I think Matt Holliday signs with the Yanks to be their DH/righty 1B.
Yeah, I'm leaning towards this too. Every time I want to think the Yankees are seriously in on EE, I keep thinking they don't want to give up that first for a guy in his mid 30's. I think they'll go with Holliday or Carter. Holliday would have to be a one year deal though and I don't know if he'll accept that.
Yeah, he was awful last year. If he could just hit like a 26 year old Aaron Hicks he'd be OK, right?
So A-Rod pretty much crushed it 3/4 of the way through 40 y/o. Then the roof caved in. Now ARod had hip surgeries, etc but the end seems to come quickly ay 40...
So, if he crashes what did you lose? Money...big deal.
Holliday may well be the guy, and he hasn't been healthy in forever; I'd much prefer Beltran to him although I can see the allure of either him or Napoli, as they give us protection at 1B and also don't cost us a pick.
Any team that's buying in the trade market at the deadline is a contender. If the team I signed with is far enough out of it to be a seller, I'd pretty much be willing to go anywhere for 2-3 months for a shot at a ring.
Of course, the NTC doesn't mean he won't be traded, he just gets to drive the bus now. So I get it: having one is always better than not having one. Just wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if I were him in this case.
There are other factors involved, such as live by arrangements and family.
Of course you can't. Just like there's no way of knowing that Houston wasn't actually his preferred destination all things being equal.
My personal opinion is that a NTC on a one year deal wouldn't be the difference (to someone who is probably worth about $100M) to accept an offer to play somewhere other than where he really wanted to be. You as correct that the decision was his and not mine. I have no way of proving it.
Any Mets fans worried about Bruce's worth at 11 Million and Granderson at 15 million need to look no further than this deal.
If Bruce is dealt I am betting that Mets fans are going to be a little disappointed with the return. I would be shocked if they received a similar package to the one they gave up for Bruce. I think Granderson could get a decent return. Not a top 10 prospect but maybe a couple of prospects in the 10-25 range.

Maybe, but I think that Bruce's value is more than you think it is. Trades are a crapshoot most of the time. Unless you are the Braves trading with the Diamondbacks, lol.
Bruce go back to hitting 30+ homers and 100 RBIs in another uniform.
It's not really going back, he did it last year. We just got him during his worst month (August). His September was pretty normal (6 homers, .250 BA). If he goes to the right situation (Baltimore for example) he may hit 40 HR next year.
So I'm sure that and the shittyness of being traded contributed to his poor play when he got to the Mets. He's a good player and should have a lot of value for teams looking for power.
perform here....they have a lineup, he actually fits it, and asde from the slump of a very streaky player, he actually did perform here. The problem is going into it with that bitchy cry baby attitude. You can go to a team capable of winning wih that pitching and no spotlight on you and you still bitch about "going to nyc"? I mean i'll root for him if he stays. Of course. But he's a bitch.
Sad to see Beltran get away.

You don't know??
16 mil is pocket change for them.

He picked them over the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Gettys and Rothschilds. Party over in Little Egg Harbor.
Hahaha. Good one.

In Baltimore or a similar smaller market he'd be great
LMAO...yeah
