Penn State

What are all your thoughts - do you think they should make the playoff? 11-2, BT Champ, Ohio State win; I hope they make it, good story, plus we always see OSU, nice to see a change for once and PSU is a likeable team. I really love McSorley, gutsy QB, reminds me of a poor man's Johnny Manziel, but I think his game and obviously his attitude translate better to the NFL.

Mcsorely is a talented QB

But I wish he would cut out the over-the-top celebrations after every TD.

No class.

I agree with your assessment, and it's not how I personally coach the kids who play for me. However, he's a sophomore on a wildly overachieving team and I think it's just youthful exuberance. I'd like to think as he grows into more of a leader as an upperclassman, he'll drop the showmanism. Scrappy little fella, though.
I am not sure the celebration is mcsorley
George from PA : 12/4/2016 8:27 am : link
Seems like its more Franklin induced......

and I think that energy drives them.

the fact that they do in on their sideline......I do not see it as no class.

More young excitement
Boy, this is a tough one.

I'm in the group of "what you do in the regular season should count a lot". They beat OSt AND won their conference championship. That should be enough. HOWEVER, because they have two losses to OSt's one, with OSt clearly being the better overall team, I can't scream if Penn St doesn't get in.

If they both had one loss, it would be a sham if Penn St didn't get in.
I think they should be in
Carl in CT : 12/4/2016 8:50 am : link
If you go by league champions. Let's say you don't and you go by "the eye test" which is why O State gets in. I think PSU should also get in cause they show a lot more to me then Clemson does. That's they team I would leave out.
It seems the committee needs to decide
Mike from Ohio : 12/4/2016 9:04 am : link
If conference championships mean anything. Can Ohio State be the best team in the country when they aren't the best team in their conference? And if they are the best team in the conference, why play a championship game that doesn't include the best teams in the conference?

College football is fun to watch, but the desperate attempt to keep conference championships, bowl games and a playoff is ludicrous. If you want all of them, you need a playoff that involves only conference champions and removes people sitting in a room picking the best teams based on style points.

They played a trash team

The top 4 will stay as is. For the playoff group to change Clemson or Washington would have to lose.

Also, WTF happened to Wisconsin last night.

4th best team in the conference. Only made it because of technicality.

They desperately need to rebalance the divisions. You can't have Michigan, OSU, MSU and PSU in one division vs. Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska in another.

Fuck PSU.
The Penn State/Ohio State issue has
Doomster : 12/4/2016 1:35 pm : link
always been there in the Polls.....but, for the most part, ratings are based on, seasonal records/strength of schedule, rather than individual games....

Penn State did beat Ohio state by 3 points, outscoring them 17-0 in the final quarter.....but they lost to Pittsburgh and then were crushed by Michigan, who lost to Ohio State....

If PS didn't lose to Pitt, then they would be a no brainer pick over Ohio State, but they didn't....
They should have received the death penalty...
Chris in Philly : 12/4/2016 1:44 pm : link
They shouldn't sniff the playoffs.
Playoffs really need to be changed to
giantgiantfan : 12/4/2016 1:47 pm : link
5 big conference champions automatically in plus 3 wild cards selected by the playoff committee.

8 teams, then the committee determines seeding.

Wisconsin has exceeded expectations given their schedule and no established QB. And that was before they lost both starting ILBs and placekicker.

Compare the 3 and 4 (and 5 star) recruits by OSU, UM, PSU and even MSU.

Wisconsin lives by getting lesser prospects (including walk-ons) and developing them and coaching them up. This appears to work best with linemen. Because of their success with OLs, that has attracted RBs.

This seems to works less well with WRs, DBs, and even QBs, where certain tangibles (of the kind that are often apparent already in HS, hence the rankings) are often requirements.

They recognize that, which is why for quite a while they have been recruiting FL and various parts in the south. They have made some inroads and if the quality of the BIG10 continues to improve hopefully they will have better success.

Until then, their ceiling is limited. Nonetheless character and coaching has taken them pretty far and I am proud to be a Badger fan.

Very spot on. I am very proud to root for this team.

I would respect McSorely way more if he would cut out the bullshit celebrations. I hope USC crushes them.

So-called moral people just standing by while women and young boys are raped, then when this is uncovered you get PSU let off the hook, Baylor's AD getting a new job at that religious institution, Liberty University, and on and on.

Unreal. It's mind boggling that people think PSU being in the playoffs is a "good story".

They do not deserve a football team. The program should have been given the death penalty.

Michigan's offense is going to be much better next year, as long as Peters or McCaffrey have the ball.

Yup, Chris. Incredibly insensitive comment and perspective. But it's the nature of things these days. Our President-elect is an admitted sex offender, but that's OK.
