Back away from the ledge

AnnapolisMike : 12/4/2016 8:22 pm
The Giants are 8-4. Yes...8-4. They played poorly against a team that needed the W much more that the they did. Luckily, Dallas and Arizona bailed the Giants out a bit this weekend. With two more wins than the teams chasing them for a playoff berth, the Giants are still in really good shape. Unless they get really bad news on the injury front, You would think they will find a way to go at least 2-2 to get to 10 wins.

we need Offensive line

I agree - this was a game every expected to lose at the beginning of

the season. The next 4 conference games are more important. WE have 2 at home, and a Philly team away who seems to have given up. We will get to 10-6 or 11-5.

Wins and losses aside, they really haven't played well in awhile. That's what's disconcerting about today. It's not like we played really well and came up short. We played badly and were probably lucky not to lose by more than we did.
they played like dogshit

They are lucky in that most teams also play like dogshit.
Kind of what I expected

defense turned in a worthy effort against one of the best offenses in football, which happened to be red hot and at home...but zero running game meant Eli was forcing a lot of throws, and made a few bad mistakes in the process.

In the end, we are what we are, a legit wild card contender, but not a Super Bowl contender, and not good enough to win a road game in Pittsburgh in December
Pitiful performance on O

and Eli was again pretty bad...

We still haven't played a complete game, offense, defense, and special teams. Our best performance was probably opening day.
Sorry that offense is putrid

It's either hit big play or nothing at all
Kind of offense that'll put you at 8-8

The Offense played like Dogshit
Bluesbreaker : 12/4/2016 9:24 pm : link
as they really have all year long the defense has kept us
from losing and almost did today but the offense couldn't
put a drive together if there very lives depended on it .
WE will be Very lucky to get two more wins .
Right now we have a better chance of losing our remaining
games than winning them . You really still feel confident
that were gonna shut Zeke down this week ?
The Lions ? Skins ? ok maybe Philly on the road ?
Yup

In writing the game story, it hit me like a ton of bricks that this game was ultimately decided by a handful of plays. Now one can say that about any game in the NFL, but there were some dramatic swings in this game that had the Giants being able to make a play here or there, the complexion of this game is completely different.
That's true Eric, but

the sad play of the whole OL was the deciding factor in the ability for Eli to have that extra second or two he needed. They will need two new OL in the off season. It's hard to see Flowers being that left OT, but maybe a serviceable ORT. JJ may do OK in pass protection, but they need a better player here. So, one new OLT and RG are needed.

do you think this offense is capable of flipping a switch and playing better? The most they have scored in a game is 28 points....they couldn't even match their average of 21 points today.....

There is something inherently wrong with this offense....after 12 games if it isn't fixed by now, it just does not look fixable....

The Giants play today was consistent with how they have been playing. Only differences no more Browns or Bears on the schedule to squeak past.

Look past the record, this team is headed for trouble. If they don't improve, on offense and I don t see why we should expect that this late in the season, they will probably miss the playoffs.
3 red zone trips with 0 points..

will get you every time.
Flip a switch...
AnnapolisMike : 12/5/2016 7:08 am : link
probably not....but play better...certainly. Didn't the Seahawks just score 40 points a week after scoring 5?

With Pugh and Vereen coming back....the offense can improve.
It's all about the turnovers

The O is not good enough to overcome them.
Depends on the injury situation
jcn56 : 12/5/2016 7:43 am : link
I have no problem writing this one off as a clunker, a trap game - coming off a good win streak for a team playing at home also trying to secure a playoff spot, maybe the Giants came in a bit overconfident and started to unravel a bit after the first INT.

The only reason I'm not completely onboard with that idea yet is the injury situation - if JPP is injured, then our chances to beat Dallas (which weren't that great to begin with) have just declined precipitously.
As jcn said,
Big Blue '56 : 12/5/2016 7:59 am : link
the injury to JPP could be huge. Otoh, could give us a little insight as to how a fill-in bookend to OV will perform in a big game. Not in OTAs, not in minicamp, not in pre-season against 3rd or 4th stringers, but against their highest level of competition to date. Still, it would only be one game, but COULD give us some kind of hint..

As to ledge, i did not believe we were going to win and said so ad nauseum. Many felt the same way. We even thought it might be a possible blowout..

So, NOTHING has changed, save for the JPP injury which could be big. Or not..
