Ok, we all saw it. Eli was bad today. The int intended for Donnell just cannot happen. Big play in the game that faltered. However a trend league wide is thst inconsistent qb play is becoming more and more frequent around the league.
Matt ryan: pick 6 and a pick 2! That's right his 2 point conversion pick was the deciding points of the game.
Philip rivers: pick 6 and an INT in the end zone at the end of the game.
Drew brees. 3 INTS ending the saints season at home.
Kirk cousins had 2 turnovers including a game ending INT.
Tannehill.... 3 INTs today.
And those are some examples. Last week russell wilson looked awful. Carson Palmer has had major clunkers. The red rocket has been up and down all year. Guys like stafford, winston, and mariotta actually have been top qbs this year... but for how long?
The point is unless your last name is carr or brady.... there has been a lot of bad qb play this year. Eli was awful today. Look for gim to bounce back against dallas.
Does he get some of the responsibility of th giants being 8-4.
He's been clutch many times but there's things I'm seeing with Eli that have me concerned how much longer our window with him may really be. His throws at times have looked disgustingly bad. Even in games we have won and he's played well he has been good for an alarming number of ducks, underthrows, missing the defender in the passing lane which blocks the pass.
I really am dismayed at how deplorable our TE play is and has been for awhile. Aside from the issues with our run game, it's a big factor in being unable to sustain drives or split the defensive coverage at the second level.
Eli is badly handicapped by no running game, and a poor OL. It's beginning to look like Flowers doesn't have the feet to play LT. Richburg gets no push, and often in fact gets pushed back. Jerry, Newhouse, Gettis, and probably Jones are JAGs. Some such players are inevitably on every roster. The cap prevents any team from having superstars at every position.
The poor OL means teams are playing their safeties back, usually in some type of cover 2 shell. Eli is therefore throwing against six or seven defenders. This is part of the reason only OBJ can get open. He simply has insane quickness.
The play calling and personnel usage is also puzzling. I'd like to see more Perkins, I'd also use Adams as an inline blocker more to support the OL, which would hopefully give Eli more time.
Eli understandably doesn't trust his OL, but he's missed a lot of throws, and seems to have lost some arm strength, especially on deep balls. He's also lucky not to have more INTs, including two that could have been picked off against the Bears.
The Giants are asking too much of Eli, but he hasn't played as well as he has in the past. Eli isn't the biggest reason the offense can't move, but he is a reason.
As far as when it's time to look for his replacement, the answer is always now. This is a QB league. It's the most important position on the field, maybe in all of sports. Teams should always be looking for QBs. Eli is also almost 36. That's old in NFL years.
We've been incredibly fortunate with Eli. Not only with his performance, but that he was able to get on the field week after week. There's never really been anyone behind him, although I'm still not entirely sure Nassib can't play. But the Giants signing Johnson was certainly a damning indictment of Nassib, and in any event, he won't be back next year.
It isn't a good year for QBs next year. I'm not a fan of Kizer or Watson, certainly not in the first. Davis Webb might be a possibility on day two. He plays in a spread offense. I'm leery of those QBs, but he'd sit for at least a year anyway.
Look at what Bell does for Pitt, Giants have no one like that. Look at how their TE lit up the score board, Giants TE's are garbage. Ben jad all of this and still got picked. When you air it out 35 plus a game, as I am sure all the QB'S in your OP did, there will be INT's.
Yes, Russel Wilson had a bad game last week. Brees had a bad game this week. You are right. However, their bad games do not come as often as they do for Eli.
Nobody expect Eli to be able to move the team down the field while he is laying on his back. However, when he is upright and has a good look at an open WR, then there is no excuse for a bad pass. When he has time to survey the field, there is no excuse for forcing it to a guy in double coverage when there is another guy all alone.
It happens far too often now.

It comes more often to these guys than you think. You do realize we won 6 in a row? Not ever loss is eli's fault.

Yes we won 6 in a row. Our offense did not look good during those wins vs sub par teams. Eli contributed to those wins. He has to get credit for being the winning QB. However, just because we won, that does not mean our offense was not broken.
The defense has been bailing out the offense all year.
I disagree that Eli misfires often. Even the pick to Donnell was a strike, their LB just snatched it out of the sky.
throwing off your back foot and across your body is a recipe for disaster.
First tye was open. He made yet another pathetic effort at the ball. And OBJ was double teamed and with a free rusher, there's no time to scan the field.
Fixed it.
Give me a break. Eli has no time to throw ever. Ben has Bell, a stud RB. Eli has the worst rusing game in the league. Don't be ridiculous
These people are crazy. If Eli holds on to the ball for 3 seconds he will get sacked. Then you will be yellino at him to get rid of the ball faster. HE HAS NO TIME, EVER!

Big Ben is making the plays with better help than Eli has.
Fixed it.
I'll agree with that too. I've harped (like some) on the OL forever.
