We have the highest paid player in the league

joe48 : 12/4/2016 8:34 pm
Eli's game is slipping this year. He just cannot elevate his game enough to beat the better teams. You could see his frustration today. The Steelers have a lot of warts.
Eli isn't the highest paid player in the league

Don't be lazy.

But he was indeed dreadful today. The "throw" at Tye's feet which would have been a first down was concerning. Not that the Oline helped.

This team needs a tight end SO badly,

+ 1 million. Just once I'd like to see what Eli would do with Dallas' OL. Sadly, he's starting to get gunshy. But picture Zac Prescott here...we'd be 2-10.

Eli fucked up big on that INT but this OL is even worse than last year IMO. Also McAdoo does not stick w the run enough. Perkins needs more carries.

That throw and the pick by Harrison were unconscionable for a QB of his stature. Very disappointing.
Yes we had bad Eli today
gmenatlarge : 12/4/2016 9:28 pm : link
however does Larry donnell "have" to see the field at all. As soon as he came in aikman is pointing him out like here comes the high toss. And BAD things happen when you throw to Larry boy!

You need to rewatch the play...give Harrison some credit he made an incredible play...

If we had one of Eli's usual high throws, it's not intercepted....

Timmons had the pick actually, not Harrison. If one of our linebackers made that play, it would have been best play since Chase Blackburn's pick of Brady in the Super Bowl 5 years ago.

It was a good play by Timmons.
Eli was awful today
Vanzetti : 12/5/2016 12:49 am : link
I don't think he is slipping. I think as Giants fans we probably just overvalued him a bit because of the two Super Bowls.

Pretty much everyone other than Giants fans thinks Big Ben is a better QB than Eli. We think the opposite but maybe now we are finally seeing the truth.

Eli is a good QB. But his strength is longevity and durability. When he and Ben are both healthy, Ben is the better QB. It is not really even debatable--unless you are blinded by your fandom.

And I have always been an Eli supporter. It's just at a certain point that you have to admit to what you are seeing with your own eyes.
I won't pile on the greatest Giants I've witnessed wear the uniform

I think he just had a bad game today...

but when it comes to his age, I will say... it's pretty clear he doesn't have the deep ball he once had. It used to be a gorgeous arcing pass. Now I think we'll be lucky if we get just one this year that doesn't float about in the air and turn into a jump ball. That part of his game seems to have faded. Happens to everyone.

I still think he can make some incredible throws from medium-long ranger and closer.

That's a tad bit of hyperbole. It was a great play by Timmons. It's not like he threw it to Timmons chest. He had to jump and fully extend to intercept it. Sometimes we just have to give the D credit for making a play.
For the duration that he's been here, Eli's always been this way
jcn56 : 12/5/2016 1:03 am : link
he's had great games, plenty of good ones, and then the occasional clunker. I don't think this goes too far up the list of his worst ones, but he wasn't very good today.

This is actually 100% false. He actually looked off the safety.
I love Eli
NikkiMac : 12/5/2016 6:42 am : link
But that being said if you look purely at the stats and I know stats are for losers Eli has a poor red zone career rating this is nothing new some of it is his fault some not.

But I say the problem is still two fold . Yes the defense has gotten better with more talent but let's face it what they are playing is bend but don't break .

Their inability to get off the field is still a problem because it seems they let up about 3 first downs and then the opposing team punts us into a hole then comes the conservative play calling because Macadoo is playing it safe and then we go 123 punt.... that and a shaky Oline and that's why we are 31st in the league in time of possession

So to me the remedy is Giants defense must cause 3 and outs because with this shaky Oline Eli cannot keep taking them on 80 yard drives and paul Perkins should be the number 1 back , Larry donnell should be cut ,OBJ must get targeted more much more and early .....Again Giants must win the field possession game ..... also I would do something to shake up that offensive line .
You'd think..

that starting a thread with a bullshit premise and being shown that the premise is bullshit would result in the thread getting deleted, if even to save face.

So....what do you want to do?
GiantJake : 12/7/2016 11:49 am : link
Eli played a bad game. The Steelers were the more desperate team and kicked the Giants ass. McAdoo is a rookie head coach. There are times when more experienced head coaches will win the match up. Stop whining about Eli. What is the alternative? Do you want to put Nassib in there? Will that fix the situation? The Giants are 8-4. They are far from being a top team and now JPP is out indefinitely. They still have a shot to get a wildcard, but the road is going to be very tough. SPOILER ALERT: There is a decent chance that there will be another disappointing loss or two before it is all said and done. There is also a chance that there will be an utterly heartbreaking loss at some point. I have been a Giants fan since 1970 and it's never easy. It's not supposed to be easy. It's a freaking roller coaster and every game is a nail biter. That's how it is. Stop being a baby and blaming Eli or McAdoo or Reese or Eli Apple or the OL. It's not about blame. It's about moving on to the next game. This team is what it is and every game is going to be a fight. If you can't take it...then please get a hobby or take a walk. You are obviously too fragile to be a Giants fan. Stop doing this to yourself and to us.
