The offense seemed to play better with a Rueben Randle in it then Shepard. We have 1 guy that can blow the top off of the coverage and 2 slot receivers. It's like having a bunch of point guards and no power forward. Nicks, Mannigham, and Cruz all had different skill sets and that's what made them a great group. I would take Randle back if it helped our offense just a smidge.
Needs a size player -- a big target. Desperately. That said, this offense is being held back more by the playcalls than the talent. Cruz is still serviceable and Shepard is a good player. They disappear because of scheme and no effort to be creative on o.

and a game breaking runner Also a Physical TE that can run the seam . Perkins will be a great change of pace back and 3rd down threat .
Shepard is a rookie with growing pains....I think he is capable of much more....this season will pay dividends next year...

But this team does need another viable receiving threat. Putting Cruz/Shepard outside isn't working. We have arguably the worst stable of TE's in football. Whether it's a TE to attack the seam or a reliable possession receiver, this offense needs another target. I do think the end of the road is coming for Victor here with the NYG. I would expect Shepard's production to increase big time in 2017 exclusively out of the slot if Cruz is no longer here.
