NFT: Anyone know anything about paint ball guns?

steve in ky : 12/4/2016 9:58 pm
I know nothing about them but thinking of getting my son a couple for Christmas and BBI has never failed being a wealth of knowledge.

My main concern is that I can get ammo that 100% is non-toxic and biodegradable and will simply wash away after a rain.

Does anyone know if this type of ammo easily exists? I have read some conflicting things online about product claims to that effect and people contradicting how accurate some of those claims are.

The last thing I want is for it to be ruining our land and be forced to not allow him to use them after receiving them as his gift.

As far as guns, Dicks seems like they have a pretty good selection and Tippmann seems to dominate the choices. Are they a decent brand?

Thanks in advance
Your concern about the paint is justified

My son had a couple of paintball guns about six or seven years ago and that damn paint was awful. Ruined a couple of things in the yard. Impossible to wash off. I can't speak about new, more environmentally friendly stuff. I just wish we had it back then.
Tippman is a good brand btw.
Have not played in years

But I think they make some eco friendly paintballs. I remember a few years ago some company made ones out of soy, not sure if they are still around. As for guns.. the Tippmann a5 and the Tippmann 98 Custom are great starter guns. Virtually indestructable
I played for ten plus years semi professionally

and worked in a paintball store four years. Go with a tippmann. Very durable and minimal upkeep. And paint surprisingly you still just want to go with cheap stuff. It's all water soluble and biodegradable. However more expensive paint is made to not wipe away as easily.

made of paint, that explode into paint upon impact. They're also powered by CO2 I believe.
