Eli Apple and Olivier Vernon - Silver Lining

adamg : 12/4/2016 11:52 pm
Apple came down with maybe the most impressive INT by a Giant this year today. With his almost pick called back on a technicality, he's building some steam on the outside.

And OV had another monster game, keeping the sack streak alive with twobtoday. He's already at 8 sacks if my count is right. He and JPP complement each other well. Hopefully JPP comes back strong next week.

Still, our D is showing growth still. This was a tough game against a top O with imo the best RB and a top 3 WR in the game. Still only 24 points with several of those coming courtesy of bad offense/refs.
Both impressive plays

Vernons sack was extra impressive , Big Ben doesn't go down easy and Vernon just ripped him down like a rag doll with his arms . Strong ass dude Vernon is. Also exploded into the pocket thru 3 blockers on the play.

Apples pick was beautiful, he's very DRC like in some ways yet more physical.
Anyone else noticed that Apple

Started today opposite of Jackrabbit. I like DRC, but I can't see him here next season.

Smh. DRC is playing pro bowl level CB.

He also now seems to be mastering the slot also as well as occasional FS

By far the most widely talked about bullshit on BBI. He's also on a bargain contract for 2 more years.

Smh

Mastering the slot? Where are you seeing this? I didn't see when DRC gave up that long third down to Green in the slot today.
He's still not healthy

yet either. You can see his wrist or hand going limp on him at times.

We won't see the guy we saw in preseason until next year IMO.
yeah... get rid of DRC

asap. i think trevin wade can handle the slot. plus what are the chances that someone gets hurt...slim, right? think of all the money someone else could save. no brainer
Anyone else notice how shorty Leon hall is

I wanted to keep the OP/thread positive, but yeah. He's been garbage and showed further evidence of that today... too bad.

DRC and Jenkins are having pro bowl caliber years--that's 3 years in a row for DRC. PFF has both DRC and Jenkins as top 10 cornerbacks. But yeah, let's just put Wade in the slot.

Eh sorry, apparently it's too late for me to detect sarcasm.
no worries

I tried to be obvious, but all of our emotions are running high. DRC isn't even gonna be making a huge amount next year. he is a relative bargain

DRC has to stay...he's good depth now and also provides a nice veteran presence in the secondary. I don't see the Giants getting rid of him. In fact, I would say we probably also need more depth at the position if possible.

was held multiple times yesterday after completely toasting the OT off the snap. He's a beast.

I agree completely. I wouldn't mind them going for a secondary player in the first three rounds of the draft again. I saw some good lengthy DBs this weekend, especially that Minkah Fitzpatrick of Alabama. That guy looks like he'd be a stud next to Collins. Or as another CB.
