(Even though our defense was pathetic), we could count on our offense to help us at least, put up a fight ....
Tonight, Eli couldn't save us by himself (when our defense ran into a top-tier QB). Our offense looked, how-you-say-it; emasculated.
Ben McAdoo, will learn (the hard way), that the Chip Kelly offense (no fullback), just doesn't cut it, in the NFL. He'll figure it out, in the off-season, I guess.
(Same 2015 very flawed O-line, was good enough to help the team rank 6th best).
In some ways, this offensive roster reminds me of the 2011 team, (actually I think that offensive line was actually worse), BUT we had a decent (not outstanding) fullback on the roster - Henry Hynoski
Our halfbacks (Bradshaw & Jacobs) were good enough to overcome bad O-line play (and win a Super Bowl). Our back this year (Jennings & Perkins) are not good enough to overcome shaky O-line play & no fullback help.
It's hard to see Eli, after a game like this (he'll never say it), face the fact that he has to be FLAWLESS against the top teams.
This was a 14-7 game in the 3rd quarter despite all of the crap up to that point (missed opportunities, bad officiating, mistakes).
The Steelers RECOGNIZED "the forgotten one" (Donnell) coming in and jumped the play.
The point of my post is that with a quasi-respectable running game, the first option is not always to put the ball up in the air (thus Eli feeling he has to win the game by himself).
Just a dumb coaching and QB move to force the ball to Donnell so he feels like a part of the team again. I sure hope that McAdoo has a much better sophomore season. Wouldn't we all love for his second year to be as night & day different as Landon Collins' play has been in year two after a dismal year one.
Everyone is talking about how good Ben did, but did you see how his receivers were either singled up with a cushion or were wide open on his passes, plus he had to have had 60 yards off od screen passes. Guy is a great QB but you look at our play designs and the window to get the ball there is so much narrower for Eli it is absurd. Then it's all OBJ during crunch time when the Defense knows he is getting the ball. There just is no rhythm to his play calling, it is predictable and stale with limited imagination

Yeah but Eric after they ran their best play of the night and scored the TD when did the D have their worst drive? The pick was awful but after he scores the TD does the D have to allow 3rd and longs and a TD?
The second on was on a drive we should have gotten some points out of. Again, it was a bad call, but a worse decision. And, how come it didn't seem any of the receivers worked their way back toward Eli when he was flushed out of the pocket?

Exactly right, Aikman points him out as the giants "tall " receiver so everyone knows the play including the steelers. WTF did they think was going to happen, plus BAD things always happen when donnell is involved, why is he still on this team?
