The definition of insanity

Dave on the UWS : 12/5/2016 7:06 am
is to keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. We've seen 12 games now of the same personell groups , play calls and tendencies. If BM is truly suited to be an NFL headcoach then he has to realize "this ain't workin"! So far Insee zero evidence he has any inclination to make the seemingly necessary changes. It's what good coaches do.
The one innovative play

goes for a nice TD. After that it's back to vanilla offense.

Cannot make the OL adequate or our RBs as threats. He isn't going to make Shephard 6'2 and he isn't going to get cruz magically open.

The personnel still sucks. You have ONE weapon. One. Not good enough in today's game.

Well, I'm convinced - that means you shouldn't even try. Let's just stick it out with the same five plays over and over again.

I still don't understand how most fans don't see this. This is spot on. The offense has been terrible all year. Cruz is pretty much toast. Our TE's have to be the worst in the league. Our line is shoddy, etc
i got to be more fair
dep026 : 12/5/2016 7:48 am : link
Shephard is going to be a productive player in this league. His size and speed limit him but he can play. His strengths as a receiver are neutralized by a lack of TE and run game.
I get sick when I read that "everything is correctable"...
silverfox : 12/5/2016 7:55 am : link
...ahhhhh, no it ain't. Going way back to Coughlin how many times did we hear that once we look at the tape, we can correct the problem and move on.

Well this organization has been unable to correct the problems for years. They are so convinced that its not really the players...they can be coached and corrected. No they can't.

dude the RB runs for 5.3. Bell was at 4.1 but ran 30 times. You can't have 40 -15 pass to run when you cant block blitzes with subpar subs and no TE's of any quality. they finally got a game to run and he didt realize it.

Perkins had 1 run of 18. Other than he had 6 carries for 20 yards. Don't be fooled by small sample sizes.

is also insanity, I don't want to see him on the field ever again! I don't want him as insurance, I would rather have a UDFA than him. every time he is near the ball BAD things happen.
the personnel is not terrible
hitdog42 : 12/5/2016 8:03 am : link
its an excuse.
what is terrible is not having a TE chip the DE when throwing out of the endzone... with your raw LT who struggles with guys off the edge.

what is terrible is consistently throwing into tight coverage to mediocre tight ends in the red zone

what is insane is going away from your run game when it actually works.

What is insane is targeting OBJ once in the first half... essentially.... and then "making up for it" after.

What is insane is throwing a quick hitter when there is nothing quick to hit and its covered and should have been pick sixed.

the scheme and rhythm is pathetic. that is on the coach and the QB... they run the offense. if the DL is able to get a jump off the ball on ever pass play... that's not all on the OL... it makes me vomit watching our offense.

The personnel is terrible. Our RBs are average at best. Our TEs are GOD AWFUL. And Cruz is done.

The quick hitter you are referring too? Well, how about the 2nd WR actually block instead of running down field. How about the end zone throw to Tye, how about John Jerry actually pick up a blitz and Tye not getting pushed around like a bitch, again. Run game was not working 1 run of 18, and a bunch of 2-3 yard gains.

Our LT is in his 2nd year, lets stop with the word raw. 9th overall pick who has not gotten better. Leads OL in penalties. The reason things are forced to Beckham is because the rest of the personnel stinks!
agree with the excuse part
mdc1 : 12/5/2016 8:18 am : link
there are plenty of teams in the NFL that do not have and Beckham and they can actually runa functional offense and literally get in position to kick a field goal when appropriate and make intelligent decisions about when to go for it on 4th down as a risk. Something is not right with this offense and the oline is poor, but the coaching is suspect. We do not spread the ball around, and when we do it is a 2 yard pass that any defense will likely not care about.
ummmm
hitdog42 : 12/5/2016 8:20 am : link
they threw to obj basically once in the first half.... the point is there is no rhyme or reason to the offense. it has no rhythm. Bad rhythm leads to bad play. regardless of talent.

they let other teams dictate to them- its pathetic. and its on the coach and QB because they are the ones who call the plays and put us in position.
Shepherd is a good football player--- Cruz is washed up but he is not incompetent. and the RBs are solid.

Before the season started, we knew the limitations of this offense......could Cruz return to form? Would SS have growing pains.....we knew what we had for TE's, yet did nothing.....there was nothing added to the OL.....We knew Jennings would be another year older and slower....we saw what this offense looked like with no OBj last year in the Minny game.....Reese pushed all his chips, into the defense, at the expense of the offense.....there is not another 200M to throw at the offense this year....
Not sure what you are watching...

You think the RB's, TE's, OLmen and no third receiver are an excuse?

That I agree with.....I have harped on this since the beginning of the season, and never see it.....

what is terrible is consistently throwing into tight coverage to mediocre tight ends in the red zone

That is on the qb.....on second down, if it's not there, you only throw it where he has a shot at it, or you throw it away

what is insane is going away from your run game when it actually works.

What? What? Our running game actually works? Yes, just like a blind squirrel will eventually find a nut...

What is insane is targeting OBJ once in the first half... essentially.... and then "making up for it" after.

What is stupid is, calling your first 5 plays to Jennings, and then on 3rd and 4, you heave one up deep to Adams...and yes, OBj should be targeted more than 4 times....

What is insane is throwing a quick hitter when there is nothing quick to hit and its covered and should have been pick sixed.

Our whole offense is based on quick hitters....fire McAdoo.

You don't get it....the OL still sucks....

you really need to step away from the keyboard man. Honestly.
the OL is not great
hitdog42 : 12/5/2016 9:26 am : link
its also not as bad as people want to make it sound.

if your offense is predictable.... with no rhythm... and DL, safeties, and linebackers have a jump on plays... and get us to check into what they want to see.... every fking time... then the OL (which is not a great OL) is operating with an extra disadvantage.... one it certainly doesnt need
there is enough there on offense that if the QB and coach can figure out a better rhythm and game plan... this team should be able to score and move the football.
but it seems like we go into a bigger shell the worse we play.
My biggest
jtfuoco : 12/5/2016 9:42 am : link
problem with coaching at this point is that Defense is actually legit this year so you need to take points when you get the chance the passing on all these FGs to go for it on 4th down might work on a bad team like Chicago and the browns but it will kill you against a team that is good.
What I'm looking for is utilizing what they have
Dave on the UWS : 12/5/2016 10:07 am : link
differently. For example, use more trips formations, once in a while put Sheppard outside and Cruz in the slot. When the running back goes in motion maybe throw it to him. And stop with the damn shotgun 90% of the time. There's very little deception in it. The run plays look so poorly designed from that formation its no wonder the running game sucks. Also, Jennings is a nice guy but enough already. He's not quick enough or powerful enough to make most of the holes he's getting work. Watch when Vereen gets back this week. He will likely do better because of his quickness. And they need to go 2 TE more often. Not only does it help the running game but it will help Flowers and Hart.

Mac has made NONE of these changes and after 12 games he's not likely too. Being overly stubborn gets you fired in this league.

They ran more 2 TEs set this week. It didnt work. We dont have a tight end to run a 1 TE set.
A healthy Daniel Fells would likely be the #1 TE on this team by
