A few thoughts at the 3/4 mark...

As is always the case after a tough loss, today sucks.

With that said, I think most of us would have signed for 8-4 and sole possession of #5 seed at this point, if offered back in September.

As it relates to yesterday, sometimes you have to tip your cap. Defensively, the Steelers played the way we are used to seeing them play. On a day that was not the best for Eli or this banged up offensive line, can most of us agree that Timmons made a hell of a play cutting off that ball and making a finger tip grab over his head? Very athletic play there. I thought the defense played well EXCEPT for one of the most important drives of the game after the score was cut in a half and we needed to throw up a zero. This was a tough outcome in a tough place to play. Time to move on.

If you are a believer in the Parcells theory that you are what you're record says you, the Giants are winning team. Types of wins and strength of opponent counts for beans in this league, although if you wanted to, a week 1 win @ Dallas is a nice feather in the cap.

The ugliest game of the year so far is easily the missed opportunity against a wounded Washington team in week 3. Having that one in the back pocket right now would be nice but now it's going to take a split of the final 4 games at a minimum.

Defensively, as long as the JPP injury is not major, I have alot of confidence the unit will continue to play well and keep us in games.

Offensively, more than the play of any one individual or position group, I am concerned about scheme/play calling. In the last 2 weeks we have completely ignored our 2/3 receivers. Shepard zero targets last week, Cruz this week. I don't understand how this can happen.

Next week will be tough, but if I was leaning towards a loss heading into Pittsburgh, I'm feeling more optimistic against a Dallas team I feel we match up well with and that I think might come in to MetLife a little overconfident.

Overall, I think I feel better than the average Giants fan today, but still cautiously optimistic. I'm very excited for the last 4 weeks.
I feel our offense is terrible

and it starts and ends with the offensive line. We can't run the ball, we can spread the ball around because Eli has no time to go through his progressions. Our TE group is abysmal. We just can't seem to control a drive, being methodical moving the chains. Eli doesn't trust his line, even when there isn't pressure he's expecting the line to break down and rushes his throws. We really need to bolster this line find a TE that's worth a damn and a bit target WR. I hope Shane Vereen can come back and help our screen game get on track a little bit. We really need that to start working.
probably time for

the coaching to take a careful look at some changes before we go into a slide that ruins our postseason chances.

Right now we have watched an offense that only actually attempts to win a game in the second quarter and it does not work against good opponents.

agreed, there was a post earlier about being desperate. While I don't think we are desperate, I don't want to piss away the rest of the season behind this crappy offense. A little something to shake things up might help us beat some teams as the competition goes up a notch.

Well I don't get that feeling....how can you feel confident the way this offense has played, these last 4 games?

This is not the same Dallas team we played in the first game.....Dak and Elliot are playing with more confidence, and this has spilled over to the team....and their defense is playing better.....

Dallas will do the same thing Pitt did to us.....exploit the linebacker and safety positions....as for stopping Elliot, we couldn't stop Bell.....and with JPP not playing , or not playing 100%, this DL is weakened.....

However, I think the Giants may finally realize, this game may be their season......another loss and this season could go spiraling downward with a hungry Detroit team wanting to win their division....the Giants may finally be forced to open this offense up....if they do and are successful, they can win this one.....another loss, will be, disastrous....
After yesterday's game I don't think they beat the cowturds

and the Lions. It may come down to winning both of the last two games to make the playoffs. Realistically the offense is not a playoff contender.
Not beating

the Steelers in Pittsburg has literally nothing to do with our ability to beat the Cowboys or the Lions.
Record or not

This is not team that is playing at a level even close to playoff quality.
