NFT: Question about replacing a lost passport

Mike in Long Beach : 12/5/2016 3:45 pm
So I'm traveling out of the country in 7 weeks and for the life of me can't find my passport. I've already filled out the form to report it lost/stolen and submitted it online. I'll be going to a passport office to give them the paperwork for a new one (already filled out).

My question is, do I have to wait for some sort of notification from the government that my lost passport documentation was processed, or am I able to continue on to the next step in getting a replacement passport? Their website as is user-friendly as Microsoft DOS.

Thank you very much in advance.
We were able to get one here in Jersey by going to a local...

Post Office and filling out paperwork there. They had a rush service that you pay extra for, and it only took two or three weeks to get a replacement. Try your local Post Office and see if they have this service.
I have read they are expecting longer than normal delays

So I would get it done ASAP.

I got mine in a day a few years back by driving up to Portsmouth New Hampshire to the main processing center.

But with seven weeks, you should be fine. Just make sure you have all your paperwork (i.e. birth certificate and one other state-issued ID).

I' m gonna pay the expedited fee just to be safe... I'm just concerned they won't even let me file for the new one until the "lost passport" documentation is done processing.
