Our Vanilla Offense From Pre-Season...

EricJ : 12/5/2016 8:18 pm
seems to be the same offense we brought to the regular season. I saw the word "vanilla" typed here so often as an EXCUSE for our inability to move the ball during pre-season.

There has been a lot of criticism thrown at Eli lately. Sure he deserves some but to me the real issue is the play calling and design.

That fake end around and screen pass which resulted in a TD on Sunday was brilliant. Pittsburgh had no idea WTF was going on. Plays like that keep a defense off balance. They are also easy on the O-line because they do not have to hold their blocks for very long. I really do not know why McAdoo does not see this.

Next, why is it that we cannot move the ball for a good portion of the game but then when the shit gets serious...THEN you see the OBJ over the middle passes and some of the other effective plays that usually move the ball down field for us? Any casual fan can see a night vs day difference in our offense once McAdoo wakes up.
Must immediately install.....

Everyone asks what happens to our offense but I don't remember being in the same formation 89% or whatever the number is of the time. Seems like Mcadoo has taken a step back as a play caller. We just run the same things over and over again and no one seems to know why. I'd just like an excuse as to why the offense is only able to be run out for the 3 WR set
Vanilla is being way too kind

The offense has been downright offensive. Eli has so many weapons. Can you imagine if Brady had our WRs? And please don't excuse the offensive line. Eli is simply not the same QB.
The TD screen

was brilliant, I would like to have seen the same play run later but go to the end-around. This O has to do something to keep opposing D's guessing, to think we are going to keep lining up in the same formations and running these same plays and somehow just overpower the D is insanity. If nothing changes for Sunday we are in for a long and painful night.

Well, the expert has spoken. What he said, I have no idea.
