our free agents

hankb1126 : 12/6/2016 2:45 am
the following all will be free agents next season

jerry,jpp,hankins,shepperd (lb) and robinson

how much would you pay any of them and who would you let go and why since we obviously we have no one better than any of them on our current roster
keep JPP, Hankins and Robinson at reasonable #s, if possible
George from PA : 12/6/2016 5:03 am : link
I do not think any will demand hugh deals......in open market.

so it should be doable......

Historic trends

would indicate they will overpay to keep JPP and Hankins will be allowed to leave. Robinson yay: he's a sub linebacker who does cover. Sheppard is a guy you keep until you can find somebody better. Like for next season. But I like him. He seems like a very together dude. The players and coaches respect him. He sticks his nose in there. He knocks people backward , which is s refreshing change.
I hope they make every effort to keep JPP & Hank

But if recent history tells me anything they do not value DT’s as they should Cofield and Joseph as examples.

I hope that changes.

JPP was offered a huge multi year deal by Arizona just this past offseason. He will get Vernon-like bucks.

Hankins won't be cheap, either.
JPP is getting real paid.

I think if it's not outrageous, we resign him. There's no one on the roster close to filling in for him. Hankins depends on if we think Jay Bromley is ready to step up (wait, I think I answered my own question). I think Jerry sticks around to compete for a starting spot or at least a backup. I don't see other teams giving him big bucks.
We will see JPP's value as a run-stopper or absence of this weekend.

There were some posters (Mr. Doom) that only gauged the success of a 4-3 DE by the sack totals. When questioned about pressures, passes batted down, run-stopping ability, he was silent. When Zeke trots around the right side consistently, we'll be lamenting the loss of JPP. Some only want to sign him to "reasonable" deals. The reality is that he will get Vernon money, and it should be by us. We'll have the cap room and it is Abrams job to structure the contracts to fit for future years.

Hank should be brought back. No idea of his value.

No one on the OL deserves a second contract, now. Pugh's option is picked up. Unless he dramatically improves, I wouldn't give him a second contract. Jerry despite not being a perennial pro-bowler has improved from last year. His ceiling is what it is. But you can count on him. He's played 16 games a year since 2012. I'd sign him for back-up money and bring in a draft pick (second) and let them compete. Flowers to RG. His 2 year scholarship at LT hasn't shown improvement. Bring in a FA or draft an OT. Let Hart, Pugh, and FA/draft pick (first) battle it out. Best 2 out of 3 plays. Beatty can go back to his couch.
Hankins is MY number one

priority. Paired with Snacks, they're solid and should be for years to come..
deals

Keep JPP, Hankins, and Robinson. Find a better FA RG:

JPP - 4 yrs/$60M ($30M gtd)
Hankins - 5 yrs/$35M ($18M gtd)
Robinson - max offer of 3 yrs/$10M ($5M gtd)

If Robinson gets a better offer elsewhere, let him go. JPP/Hankins you consider matching anything.

Sheppard isn't even worth negotiations. If he's still unsigned around draft time, offer him vet min.

Didn't they just sign Snacks for $50M?
JPP
Bluesbreaker : 12/6/2016 10:38 am : link
We have to keep him even at the expense of Hankins I have
no idea why you would want to give Sheppard anything he
is terrible at the point of attack and how many passes has
he defended this year .
Bromley is a rotational guy at best he was another bad pick
he is soft period . JPP is gonna cost us ask any non Giant
fan of any team and outside of Odell he would be the first
guy they would want on there Team .
They are Forced to co mitt a 1st or 2nd pick to the O-line
I don't think its a great year for a LT but I would take
whatever one they feel fit .
A linebacker TE or RB early or even WR .
Any of the LB's we have either cut or take a cut none of
them are all that good .
Jennings do you keep him one more year ? it will be the last year of his contract not sure when its the best time
to cut him but we need to get younger and stronger and
faster .
I hope they can Resign JPP, Hankins and Robinson
beatrixkiddo : 12/6/2016 11:30 am : link
If they can sign Pugh to a longer deal it would create more room, and cutting or restructuring Cruz, Harris and Jennings will save some money as well.

JPP is the #1 priority IMO.

I don't think they resign Hankins as they would have a ton of money in the DL alone. I would do everything in my power to keep this front together, and keep adding youth to the defense.

This team needs to go and get a reliable #2 WR in FA if they want to make a run with Eli's remaining window. Then draft BPA, there are some real good TE's, RB's and LBers in this years draft, and I hope they spend premium picks on those positions.
They are not getting anyone better than JPP or Hank
DonQuixote : 12/6/2016 7:35 pm : link
On the open market, and if they do they pay handsomely. I think the Giants will put out for those guys. The defense in general has a great nucleus from what I see and I think the Giants, do some cutting and restructuring to make sure those guys play for us.
