Actually it was Burfict and you can see him set for contact... he saw him alright. As soon as Ertz sees him lift his head he steps out of the way. Wow... that was pathetic... lol. Then again, it was Burfict... lol. Still they are probably the same weight.
Proper form would be to square up but that's the type of chance where a hockey style shoulder to the chin or sternum would knock him down and out regardless of how tough Burfict may be. Hertz had all day to line up a kill shot if he wanted or just get in the way at the very least.
