8-8 My ass!

EJJ : 12/6/2016 9:51 am
Barring a catastrophic injury there is no way we finish at 500!
Im reading in several posts that many fans think the Giants will lose out? Really? Crash and burn?
This D is vastly improved. The D line is stout against the run and the pass rush is improving. At safely Landon Collins has been mentioned as a Defensive player of the year for crist sake! Our CBs are very good with Jenkins a possible all pro.
Yes for many reasons our Offense is offensive, but we still have enough to get the Job done and win some games. Eli for what ever reason isn't playing great, but he has been good at times good enough to win 8 games so far. OBJ is a super star nuff said.
This Giants team warts and all has been good at home lossing only one game and they gave that one away. Two of the last four are at home.
Finally the last two games are divisional games where they are very familiar with their opponents and should be up for. The Eagles although very tough for us at home will Be eliminated from the Playoffs as possibly the Redskins.
Sorry for the rant but I love the NY Giants and take every game, every season personally. This is the best season they have had since 2011 and I'm enjoying it even if they're not perfect obviously this is only my opinion but I hope you guys are enjoying this as well and not looking at the negative there's a lot of football yet to be played let's back our team!

Honestly as far as i'm concerned, anything is on the table. 8-8, 12-4 or anything in between. We're capable of losing or beating any of these final 4 teams. Gun to my head, the defense does enough to get us into the playoffs.
Piggy-backing off Danny's comments,
Big Blue '56 : 12/6/2016 9:55 am : link
I do believe our O will improve enough down the stretch to be playoff competitive. But, we do need the OL to stay put, to keep the regulars in place and not shuttle in 5 different guards. Continuity is key
Last week I wrote "If this were a Coughlin team"...

"...Offense would show up flat again in Pittsburgh, lose turnover battle and game in squeaker.

Wheels really fly off against Dallas, Giants get embarrassed as heralded Defense gives up 200 yards to Elliot.

But DO recover against the Lions, finally getting to 9-wins and there ARE mathematical possibilities to make the playoffs...

...but then, on just 4 days rest, Giants go down in yet another soul-crushing defeat to the Eagles...

...and, then we play the Redskins.

That feels familiar because it really did happen, like EVERY year Coughlin was coaching.

But this ISN'T a Coughlin team...

Right???"
People are really talking about 8-8 on here?
Knee of Theismann : 12/6/2016 10:29 am : link
I mean yeah it's possible but the chances of that happening are like less than 5%.

I mean the Giants' 6 game winning streak comes to an end and now they're just gonna collapse completely? Could happen but watching this year I have faith that they'll win a couple more down the stretch here.
Not a Coughlin team any more.
jsuds : 12/6/2016 10:29 am : link
To me, and I am not saying this is b/c of Coughlin, the MAJOR difference in this team is the blessing of fewer injuries. If that has ANYTHING to do with Mac and it continues we should see some good twilight years for Eli. After that I'm real worried Giants tix might end up being $6.00 for a late season Monday nighter.

I agree with this, which is why I think 10-6.
My concern isn't making the playoffs...
x meadowlander : 12/6/2016 10:35 am : link
...it's "What happens when this Giant offense goes up against a Top-5 defense IN THE PLAYOFFS?"

Scoring TEN could be a fekkin challenge.

Somehow, somewhere, they HAVE to get the wheels turning.

I'd take the play calling away from McAdoo.

Same thoughts if the JPP injury is serious?
It likely a split with wash & philly
micky : 12/6/2016 11:17 am : link
Dallas and Detroit are much better at this time..9-7 unless the mistakes they make result in a w by philly or wash, then 8-8
8-8 is possible as is 12-4
Bluesbreaker : 12/6/2016 11:36 am : link
Probability is closer to 8-8 that said I have a bit of a
revelation that not only getting Pugh back but just as
important getting Shane Vereen back . He has fresh legs and
he could change the way teams are defending us and open up
the entire offense and why not ?
If Eli can get him the ball on the run in key situations
the safety is going to have to adjust for him it really
could change the offense dramatically . He also has fresh
legs LB's are not gonna cut it trying to defend him all
game long . We also know he can run the football and give
Eli a better option to move the chains .
Were all sick of watching this team struggle on offense .
I say he will be our savior and he has proved he is a clutch performer . Go Giants
The only way we have any chance

At all is if a) hurt players return, and b) not a single starter gets hurt the rest of the way. Both things have to happen and it's doubtful either things will happen.
Even if they go 8-8, this season has moved the team

forward in a way it hasn't in years.

I've been as "realistic" a fan as anyone, I recognize how flawed this team is and the awkward way this rebuild is playing out, but the way fans have been endlessly shitting on an 8-4 team, a team that is going to finish at least at .500 for the first time since 2012 and is finally again alive to play real meaningful football in December, is nuts.

I can picture them eking out 2 ugly wins mixed with 2 ugly losses and going 10-6, getting finally back into the playoffs earlier than they realistically should have been expected to, and some people will be acting like they're rooting for the Browns and being tortured because it wasn't Patriots-like pretty enough and they didn't win the SB in the end.
I got 9-7 with no playoffs for the 7th time in 8 years.
The_Boss : 12/6/2016 2:45 pm : link
I'm very curious how that will fly with John Mara after the FA spending spree and how the NYG had the most accomplished QB in the East by a considerable margin and still couldn't get into the playoffs in a very down NFC.
Shockingly..
FatMan in Charlotte : 12/6/2016 3:01 pm : link
it wouldn't surprise me for you to actually want to see that scenario play out instead of making the playoffs.

The number of "fans" who actually would prefer to lose to see changes made is pretty ridiculous.

But then again, when you have posters in the Beckham thread saying they'd rather cut him than put up with his antics, there are a lot of fucking morons around.
If this team finishes 8-8,
Doomster : 12/6/2016 3:23 pm : link
then this is a failure of a season......to be 8-3, and then go 0-5, it is a failure of a season.....

Personally, I think the team goes 2-2, to finish 10-6.....but I would not be surprised if they went 1-3, to finish 9-7....

9-7, may not cut it for a wild card though. Depends a lot on what the other teams do over the last 4 games....you can't control your destiny going 1-4 down the stretch....

but go 0-5? I seriously doubt that......

That would be an unacceptable result. What is your view of McAdoo thus far?

No. What I want is 12-4. But unlike 98% of BBI, I'm a realist.

So far? He's been fine. I'm sure he's going to expect a lot of OL help this spring.
If
blue42 : 12/6/2016 7:21 pm : link
Eli keeps playing like he did Sunday we could lose evry game.
My main concern all year ...
DonQuixote : 12/6/2016 7:49 pm : link
... is whether we have a good coach. I see some things I like and I see some things I don't, so the jury is out.

I'll say this though, the Steelers came out and just kept hitting the Giants hard and the Giants were not the tougher team. If they are going to be what McAdoo says he wants, they have to go into a place like Pittsburgh and punish them physically. That is not where this team is right now, and that's OK things take time. But I will feel better about the season if I see a trajectory in that direction.
