Sorry all the updates were lost.
- Unnamed Islander out with the flu (Mayfield recalled)
- Grabner out because of a death in the family
- Tavares is Vesey's bitch
- Halak in net according to Greg
That's all I saw before the deletion.
Haha I wouldn't complain about calls at the end there.
Definitely got some bounces but Halak played a great game.
I'd like to see how it would have ended with Nash and Grabner playing
Why were you listening to the Isles coverage?
you made a comment. Its sad you can't just move past what you don't seem to grasp but there's a real thing where players are not playing their best and aren't taking steps back or big massive issues. Klein is not a top pair player. He gets more minutes against better players, you see it. Why do you and so many others prefer to watch single games and make them define whole roster issues or large problems? The team is at the top of the whole fucking league and is +30. If you start a month winning every game and go into a streak of less than ideal play when you are without major players, its not really a tragic problem. The team is in need of 1 or 2 upgrades but holy crap. WHen you watch a team play a quarter of a season and look absurdly good, the reaction doesn;t have to be so damn sad and overblown. How long ago did they g on a west coast trip and beat ass 3 games in a row right before this mini slump?
Mike in LB aka fekker dipietro, fish, Dave, jay bin, kwhite,
And of course my bud pga (sorry if missed anyone)
Congrats - dec 6 is kick drewcon in the c day!!!

Klein has taken a step back and Girardi? Yeah, no comment.

Wanna clarify some of that verbal diarrhea?
Feels just like last year, right down to you having the same arguments on here about it.
Big win for the Isles...that's 9 of 10 possible points against the likes of the Cup champs, Prez Cup winners and one of the best teams this year in the Rangers. It's a needed confidence boost for a struggling team (although unlike some of your bretheren feel, they are not bottom feeders, owning multiple 100 point seasons in recent times, but a team floundering under the weight of lackluster and tuned-out coaching). No one on our side thinks a turnaround is in effect, but these are necessary wins to get the team on the right mental heading moving forward.

Not a big loss with Puemp. How serious is the Nash injury?
Flyers are red hot. Islanders are coming up the rear fast. Devils just got Taylor Hall back and are winning again. Capitals are always a threat.
Of course my friend

4 of the top 6 teams in the NHL are in the Met
Definitely a better option than at least 2 or 3 of Pirri, Peumpel, Lindberg, Jooris, if not all of them.
Was nice to see the scoring very spread out last night. The Islanders don't really have top heavy lines, so if they are going to be successful they are going to need all 4 lines to score to some extent. It'd be nice if last night can jump start Ladd a bit.
I do have to agree, though, that if you can get a playoff matchup against a team without 3 of its top 9 forwards, you should relish the opportunity...
If you can make the playoffs.
So much work to do, but glad we've strung some wins together here.
I am not a ref-complainer, but in person it did seem to be one of those games where the calls went against us.
Because NYR havn't really played like they did the first few weeks of the season lately (4-5-1 in last ten)?
There's still a ton of season left. How teams look in the first few weeks of the season isn't always how they look heading into the playoffs (see 2015-2016 Rangers for an example).
Admittedly the comparison doesn't work well because your forwards suck.
I thought all the calls on the Islanders were legit calls but the missed calls the other way were an issue. The refs had a bad night. What were the Rangers doing at the end of the game? First by not giving up the puck to get the 2 man advantage earlier and then just passing the puck around on the pp down 2 goals. Weird.
Admittedly the comparison doesn't work well because your forwards suck.
Bailey has actually been pretty good. Lol. No. Seriously.
Absolutely fair. The Rangers were due for some mean reversion after a hot start. I didn't think they played an awful game last night. Goalie got outplayed significantly, Hank directly handed the Isles a game winner, and I thought they completely ran out of steam in the third down 2 skaters.
On the other side, Isles played OK. JT gonna JT, Halak stood on his head, and you guys mostly kept the front of your net clean. You won without playing a really strong game; that's a good sign.
I wasn't making the Rangers out to be slouches, but it's a little silly for someone to circle game against the team the rangers put out there last night and say you want them in a playoff series.
Admittedly the comparison doesn't work well because your forwards suck.
They were good enough to put some goals in last night. I'll take it.
But lets be clear. Rangers were without Mika, Buch, and Grabs. Nash, Staal, and Vesey were hurt during the game (as was our 12th forward). It's not all that fair to say that this is the "real" Rangers.

Had missed the last 10 games for the Islanders, how panicked would you be about a 4-5-1 record during that span?

I get it -- When someone points out that your argument is completely stupid, just say "scoreboard".
I thought he looked better last night than he had in a while (and Staal looked fantastic even if he did screen Hank on the JT goal).
It is far from clear to me whether Kreider has been playing hurt, or it's just his usual inconsistency.
I think any remaining difference in effectiveness is partly attributable to his constantly changing linemates lately and specifically missing the 2 Fs with which he's had the best rapport of any teammates we've seen in his career.
And I am painfully aware that these are exactly the type of rationalizations that people have been making for CK for years...

I'm not even sure what your argument is. All you really said was that the Islanders forwards "suck" and pointed to the opening night scoreboard and blamed injuries for recent poor play.
What's your argument? That if by some miracle the Islanders make the playoffs this year they should hope to face Tampa, Pitt or Washington instead of NYR? Is that your point?

Your momma
Be happy that you won. The Isles absolutely deserved to win. Congrats again.
No one is making excuses, or injury excuses, for last night's loss. Injuries certainly have been a factor contributing to the string of poor play lately, but horrendous play from the defensemen and lackluster goaltending have been equally to blame and equally pointed out by NYR fans on this board/thread almost ad nauseum. But read what you want to read.
When is our next game (Feb 16?)?
**not sure if it was posted but Niklas Jensen has been recalled by the Rangers.
We'll count on you to keep elevating the level of hockey discussion around here, Mike. So put the dolls away and see if you can contribute any actual insight to hockey threads other than re-typing random stats that any of us can see on twitter.

Increasingly optimistic that we've actually seen the last of Tanner Glass.
