Eli Apple turning the corner?

armstead98 : 12/7/2016 10:21 am
Maybe a bit of optimism in all this doom and gloom.

Eli has finally started to show up on the field with huge plays in back to back games. Has the light bulb finally come on for the 10th overall pick?

Not only does he seem to have the athletic ability to stay locked at the hip with NFL receivers but he's also showing that he can make some incredible plays on the ball.

Apple, Jenkins and Collins is looking like quite the foundation on which a dominant secondary is built.

is going to have to up their game, to make up for the loss of JPP, for the rest of the season...
He's been showing glimpses of good play all year

After some injuries and up and down performances, he's starting to show some consistency which would be HUGE moving forward.

Would love to see him get a pick on Sunday night, especially a pass intended for little shithead Cole Beasley.
he showed me a lot week 1

and then got dinged so its been a combination of getting healthy and rookie growing pains, but he's been pretty damn good IMO. He's going to make mistakes but his skillset is obvious and as long as he takes well to coaching and learning from mistakes, I think we will have a player.

In back to back games now. The Cleveland INT didnt count, but he was in great position. Been a learning process and the kid is still SUPER young. Seems like a smart kid and I am hopeful he learns from his mistakes. Liking what I am seeing out of him.
With CBs

its hard to say. They generally take a few seasons to develop.
I'd agree the glimpses have been there all season

The key for him is to reduce the mental errors, and become consistent in approach and results.
Considering the amount of time

it can take a CB to learn his craft in the NFL and Apple's proclivity in college to get "graby," I'm ecstatic withn the season he has had.
He's

had the ups and downs typical of most rookies, especially at CB. People need to be patient. I wanted Hargreaves, but Apple has the size the Giants FO covets at the position. And of course Tunsil completely messed up the entire draft.

has shown really good ability considering first year corners have a steep learning curve. He's only 21, can't wait to see how he develops when he's had 2-3 offseasons in the NFL.
outside of that one bad game against Philly Apple has been

He is a rookie and has been playing like one. He is willing and seems to like the physical punch you in the mouth aspect of his position. However, his coverage skills are up and down as you would expect.
