Yanks waiting on a decision from Jansen and Chapman. Three teams (NYY, LAD and Miami) are bidding.
Alex Colome is subject of trade talks between the Rays and the Nats.
Offers may or may not have been made for Gardner, depending on whether you ask Cashman or anyone else.
I don't really mind that. He had a very good 2015 year and a decent rebound the end of last year. Still a very good defender and can play all OF positions.
I'm willing to give him another year or half a year. Yankees would get little to nothing if they traded him now

I'd guess that an A- for someone who's never taken an AB in AA is pretty good (and rare). If he has similar success in Trenton+ in 2017, I imagine he'll be an "A" this time next year.
A prospect on his list are considered prospects with a "good chance" of becoming stars. Torres is an excellent prospect but is A) Not MLB ready B) A notch below what most would say "good chance to become a star". Matt Eddy yesterday compared and contrasted Torres/Rosario and the Phillies JP Crawford and basically saw all 3 as very good but didn't sound like any were "good chance to be stars".
Also would have been interesting to see if they could have gotten more by waiting for Chapman and Jansen to sign first.
Robertson, Nate Jones, Abreu, Frazier, Quintana, Eaton... for such a bad team they have TONS of guys who could/should bring back multiple nice pieces.
Is it Bruce for Jeffress?

Reminds me of Dye before Dye became a defensive liability at the end.
I just think when compared to the Chapman deal, the Royals could have gotten more. I admittedly tend to overrate the value of prospects though.
Robles not in the deal
I just read that. WTF? More of these GMs just speak their mind even when there is zero upside to doing so - bizarre way to go about one's business.

he told Joey Bats's agent they weren't making an offer because Baltimore fans don't like Joey Bats. That made me smile.

It's a calculated dig at a guy who likely goes back to a division rival, a little red meat.
But there's just zero upside in saying something like that. And he's not on your team - so ... like Phil Jackson with Lebron a month ago... why bother?

I've also gotta laugh at guys who make a rating scale of A,B,C, etc then give A-, B+ and so on. Perhaps it's better to use a numerical system, then?

Thanks, Dan!

I just disagree. They're a team that rarely spends money, the headline reading "O's won't sign Joey Bats because he's a prick" plays a lot better than "O's won't sign Joey Bats because Peter Angelos is a cheap bastard"

#WhiteSox return includes Lucas Giolito, Dane Dunning and Reynaldo Lopez for Adam Eaton.
Dunning was a 1st round pick this year. Really strong trade for both teams.

Quintana should bring back a similar haul, Robertson has value, Melky had a solid season, Frazier likely has solid value.
The White Sox have gone from one of the game's worst farm systems to one of the best in 48 hours.
Eaton is undoubtedly better than Gardner, but Gardner is a nice player who plays good defense, walks and steals bases and might chip in 10-15 bombs. I may be presumptuous in thinking than Dane Dunning would be enough to get Gardner from the Yanks, but I think that's probably about right. Is the difference between Gardner and Eaton in the outfield really Giolito and Lopez?

White Sox are about to add the No. 1 (Moncada), No. 3 (Giolito), No. 30 (Kopech) and No. 38 (Lopez) prospects per http://MLBPipeline.com
One I could see. Both... that's insane.
Saw this retweeted about Kopech:
Michael Kopech on comps to Syndergaard: 'I dont want that to be my ceiling, no disrespect to him. I want to kind of set my own limits.'
and this
@JeffPassan just compared Yoan Moncada's skills to Mike Trout and Mike Kopech to Noah Syndergaard on @WaddleandSilvy I sure hope he's right

Fangraphs had Eaton worth 6.0 WAR last year. They had Gardner worth 2.4.
Eaton is signed $23.5M for 5 years with the deal ending in 2019. Gardner is signed $52M for 4 years with the deal ending in 2018.
Looks like Eaton is a better player on a better contract but I think he's going to regress a bit from last year's season.
I don't love Giolito either based on what I saw in, admittedly, a very small sample last season. Lopez doesn't have the best command of his fastball, but I love the 3 pitches I saw from him last year.
