Eli in 3 wr sets 2016 vs 2015.....

sxdxca : 12/7/2016 10:04 pm
In 2015 63.8 comp% 27td 11int 95.8 qb rating

In 2016 63.0 comp% 15td 8int 90.0 qb rating

Compared to two wr sets, which are not good , he has more success with 3. My question is , would he benefit by running more 5 wr sets?

I say this because it would spread out the defense. He could then easily read if there was a blitz coming. Very difficult to double team 5 guys. More than likely get single high safety. Would give Cruz , Shepard , and Beckham more opportunities for big plays...

Fellow Giant fans your thoughts on whether my suggestion is valid or not?
everytime I see them in 5 wr set.....

They have been unstoppable.

I assumed there was no need for it as we were winning.

and put more pressure on defense if it becomes a short series.
5 receiver sets

We'll get blitzed like crazy and we don't handle a four man rush very well. IMO,that is a recipe for disaster.

and they spread the D out with 4-WR, 5-WR sets...I'm a bit disappointed that McAdoo isn't a bit more creative like this, coming from that coaching tree. In fact, he's showing the same stubborn tendencies as TC.
I don't think the Oilers

of Run and Shoot vintage used five wides. They kept Lorenzo White back there to block. McAdoo has been statist in his formations. That is true. Gruden spoke with the Bengals' DC before they played the Giants. That's what the guy told Gruden. So blame McAdoo for being predictable? Did defenses get used to playing against him after two seasons?

I don't buy it. The Cowboys run the same plays from the same formations. They have the line and Elliott so that's a huge edge for them. But the Giants have the franchise quarterback and Reese, despite his many failures, has given Eli the greatest weapon in the game, with all due respect to Julio. What's going on? Eli is what's going on.

You said the OL and Elliot are a huge edge for them, and then say Eli's a problem? If the Giants had the Cowboys line they would be able to perform a successful PA, something they can't do much now, obviously.

What I like about GB is they use guys like CObb and Montgomery in the backfield. Giants did they before with Tyree thought not much, and recently have done it a small bit with OBJ. Not enough though. I think it wouldn't be bad doing it for Cruz, Shepard or Lewis too. Just switch things up a bit and stop being so repetitive.
The key to the offense

Stay out of 2nd and long. I don't care what formation you use, 1st down must net you 5-7 yards, opens you while play book and gives you 2 chances to move the chains and more big play opportunities. If I were McAdoo I go through the game video and fix or remove the plays that have put the Giants in long yardage.

Running the ball more out of 2 WR sets would help but McAdoo seems to not like his personnel.

GB took it took the Eagles a few weeks ago doing this 4-5 WR sets. They did it b/c running back were all getting injured and wanted Rodgers to quickly identify mismatches.

It was successful for them though b/c Rodgers can really get the ball out of his hands quickly after taking snap, and he puts it on receivers numbers every time (at least that night he did).
