EAST RUTHERFORD – Landon Collins understands why some might predict the demise of the Giants as playoff contenders now that Jason Pierre-Paul has been lost for the rest of the regular season following surgery to repair his core muscle injury. His response: not so fast. “We’re not done. Trust me on that,” Collins told The Record after practice Wednesday. “JPP is one of the best players on the defense, one of the best players on the team, but you don’t stop playing just because you lose a player like that. We have other players on this team. We all need to step up. “It’s not a matter of giving up now. It’s a matter of doing more and fighting even harder, and I still believe in this team, I absolutely do.” |
I know how it s meaning, but the implica is they haven t been giving max effort to now.

No, the implication is that despite the effort they've given, they now need to do even more to overcome the loss of one of their best players.

The statement is uttered by every team when they lose a key player. Nothing to do with playing hard previous to the loss. It's about, "let's everyone rally to fill the VACUUM."
I believe this team can win without JPP but the offense can help by scoring and possessing the ball more.
There are enough leaders on this D including Collins, Snacks, OV, and DRC. They play their game and we are solid on D. I thought Casillas played poorly last Sunday. He needs to step up for sure this week. We need to force them into a passing game.
I also think they'll be pumped, regardless of it being Dallas, because they are playing the top team in the league.
for certain situations that have implied other meanings.
I'm in a profession where effective communication is essential, so: I notice things like this. Not a big deal, not a deal at all, I knew what Collins meant.
Ryan: Put me in the camp of it's a lack of talent, especially on the offensive line. I will repeat what I've written here before: Phil Simms stated, "There is no way to overcome bad "O" line play".....he's right.

You are getting 100% from your best 11 guys. That produces a certain level of play.it does not matter how good or bad they rank, just that they are giving 100% of their combined ability. A player gets hurt who has no equal to replace him. The new guy plays 100% and so do the other 10, they are giving the same effort, but the quality is likely to decline because they no longer have the same overall talent. "we all need to do more, play harder" To maintain the level of play they had. To compensate for the talent gap between the injured player and his replacement. Whether or not that is possible doesn't matter. We'd like to think it's not because that means we are getting 100%. Even if they can't be better doesn't mean they shouldn't try. Saying it doesn't mean they aren't doing their best. Of course, other factors like play calling and cohesion can also affect play in good or bad ways.the defense could be better with less talent. It could also just be a compliment to the fallen team mate. Just my thoughts on it.
