NFT: Movie Hacksaw Ridge: (Possible Spoilers)

I know before this movie came out there was a few threads on it, but didn't recall seeing on after it's release. I'm not sure how many saw it, but enjoyed it thoroughly. I had never heard of his story until I saw the trailer the first time and was really amazed by it. I think after seeing the movie it hit a little closer to home as my uncle was in Okinawa.

My grandfather was also in the 77th division

also in Okinawa during that time. The 77th division is prominently featured in the beginning of the film, as is Fort Jackson, SC where I know my grandfather went for Basic Training. I do not know if my grandfather knew this man, but the movie really drove home the point of how brutal that war was. Glad to see it get its mention on BBI.

Here's a documentary about him on youtube. Runs about an hour and 45 minutes. Very interesting.

about the movie going in, but was pleasantly surprised to see Vince Vaughn play the role he did. Reminded me a little of "Full Metal Jacket", except the story in Hacksaw Ridge got better after the camp scenes instead of going downhill.

Good movie...

the ongoing scene at Hacksaw is up there with Saving Private Ryan's opener in terms of filming. Brilliant.
