Jackson criticized Anthony for being a ball stopper in an interview with CBS Sports Network Tuesday. The timing was curious since the Knicks had won four in a row before last night’s loss to Cleveland, and Anthony had been playing well.
“I don’t even know what was said to be honest with you,” Anthony said. “I just don’t even want to talk about that, what he’s talking about exactly. I want to stay away from that at this point. My focus is my teammates and winning. We’ve been playing great basketball and that’s the only thing I’m focused on.
“Whatever Phil said he said it. I have nothing to say about that.”
When Anthony was first asked about it, he uncharacteristically abruptly ended the interview.

but the public comments need to stop
Melo looks clearly angered by it. Watch the video.

He's not wrong though. The ball is stopping way too much with Melo. I think he's getting better though because when he's playing in the flow of the offense, he's getting really good shots and playing well offensively.
He needs to fight to get position in the low post too. If we hand him the ball at the 3 point line and he's being defended, it's going to end in a bad shot. If he's getting the ball in the low post and he's got his back to the basket, he's deadly. He's got to live down there. The only shots he should take outside of that are when he's wide open and shooting off the pass.
So Phil should continue making comments to the media that could be used to upset his players? Routinely so? Lebron "posse", knocking guys like Larkin/Bargnani through Charlie Rosen etc?
Keith hit the nail on the head Dan. What part of the interview do you think was played for Melo? I watched the entire interview on CBS & thought it was vanilla except for Phil talking about smoking pot!

to create click bait, you'd have seen that Phil was actually praising Melo. But, since it's 2016 & false news is in, let's run with Phil being a bad guy!

he is mad because he is tired of talking about negative stuff and you can tell he did not knownwhat phil said until the beat writers mentioned that one line...
BBI, OTOH, is something else. A week ago, all the Knicks game threads consisted of 75% complaints about Carmelo Anthony. I can't even read Knickerblogger anymore because it's "Melo Complaint Percentage" is bordering 90%. I read a newspaper article about how fans at the Garden were "groaning" when Melo went one on one. Phil says the exact same shit a lot of Knicks fans (not me, BTW) say incessantly, but now he needs to shut up?
RE: Lebron-Screw him and his posse. I could care in the least if that dude was upset. Poor whittle Lebron doesn't like that Trump is president so he won't stay at his hotel. Shut up you douche.
""No. It's water under the bridge," he said. "I don't think there was anybody hurt or harmed in this situation. I think LeBron's friend [Carter] obviously had an issue with it. We just let it go. It's not enough to talk about it."
I'll call my boss an asshole, wait a few days and say "eh it's water under the bridge".
do you not think phil has said this to melos face?
if you actually read phils full quote he is actually praising melo..
i thinknwhat pissed melo off was he knew the writers were looking for a story after the knicks got killed
And you think Melo sat down & watched the whole interview? You don't think the same soundbite was played for him over & over? Did you watch the full interview? Like I said,it was vanilla & he was praising Melo for his adjustments made within the system!

you do know why lebron got mad about the comment right? it had nothing to do with "posse"

?? We have been discussing Phil Jackson and his unnecessary comments since he got here. Bizarre multi-part pieces where his comments are filtered through Rosen which serve no apparent purpose.
-The Knicks had just won 4 straight games with positive buzz.
-What purpose does publicly critiquing Melo serve? He's suddenly going to say "hmm I think I'll move the ball faster since Phil took a shot at me?"

how Phil decides when something is "water under the bridge"... usually... it's the person who has been bothered by something.

Why does that matter? The offending party doesn't get to decide whether something is water under the bridge. Whether Jackson said something offensive or not is besides the point. If I offend you, I'm not the one who decides "we have moved on".

PS Lebron disagrees with you
"When asked to reflect on the discussion that his response to Jackson prompted, James brought up the racial undertones that he believed were part of Jackson's "posse" characterization.
"Didn't affect me, just know how much further we still have to go and how far we still have to go as African-Americans, even in the light of today," James said. "For me, I've built my career on and off the floor on the utmost respect, and I've always given the utmost respect to everyone -- all my peers, people that's laid the path for me and laid the path for coaches, players, things of that nature.
"I've always given respect to them, and it's always, like I told you before, it's always shade thrown on me, so. It means we got a lot more work to do, myself and the team. We've got to continue to protect each other and continue to just be as great as we can be.""
False news? Was Melo annoyed, yes or no? If the answer is yes than Phil Jackson should refrain from public critiques. This isn't a one time thing. He routinely is talking to the media about his players. Took shots at Kobe all the time.

come on dan wake up, it was a perfect way to change the narrative of the story..
at first ot was about melo controlling the heat behond the scenes and why riley grew tired of it..
lebron was smart and turned it around on phil and evdryone forgot about the comment about lebron, it was brilliant pr
That being said, Hornacek is the HC. He should be the one coaching the players.
I think Phil has done a really good job with the personnel, I have few complaints, but he needs to step back and let Hornacek coach and only focus on the personnel.
Did you watch the interview!I think I know the answer but you keep on beating that dead, dead horse!
melo requests those meetings with phil not the other way around..
and the comment if you actually read it is praising melo for trusting his teammates more and playing within the offense

And yet Kobe sucked it up and won. Melo should do the same.

should also be noted it doesn't make a single shred of difference if 99% of an interview is "vanilla" if you make one statement that becomes a story/unnecessary. This is a pattern with Phil Jackson, not one "misstep". He's not the coach. Let Hornacek tell Melo behind closed doors he wants the ball moved faster.
Did you watch the interview!I think I know the answer but you keep on beating that dead, dead horse!
I most certainly did... this morning. To see what Phil said. It wasn't the most critical comments he could have made but again... UNNECESSARY just as calling Bargnani soft and talking about how he didn't want to practice, or saying Shane Larkin had tiny hands... when both were no longer with the Knicks... not necessary.
yes you do, he called out his team for losing 3 in a row and saying the honeymoon was over
but we knew this when he was hired, did anyone really think it would change?
He's forced into doing 10 part 3rd party pieces with Charley Rosen? By whom?
and why would you keep locked up in his offense, you have one of the greatest coaching minds in the game, why would you not use it if hornacek is ok with it?
They've also been missing Favors for half of their games and the ones he's played he's been on minutes restriction.
Feel bad for the clips. If they were in the east I'd have to think they could've cracked the finals one or twice over the last 6 years.
