CB Janoris Jenkins

December 29, 2016

Q: Are you going to play on Sunday?

A: I don’t know. We’ll see what the coaches say. I’ve been practicing a little bit, getting in a rotation and getting a lot of reps. Continue to get the treatment.

Q: How close were you to playing last Thursday and how do you feel now?

A: I feel better than I did last week. Coach made the decision not to play me and I went with it. I feel better this week.

Q: How scary was it that you were undergoing those types of serious tests and how relieving was it when they came back negative?

A: It was scary. A situation like that is always scary. The results I got, I was satisfied and happy that it wasn’t serious. Just continue to do treatment.

Q: Would it benefit you to take another week to rest?

A: I’m not going to say yes or no. Just preparing on getting ready. Take this week as a game week as if I’m starting. Just going to continue to come out.

Q: You still have pain?

A: Not really. Not a lot of pain like I had last week. It eased up a little bit. Just continue to do what I do.

Q: As a DB, is it worse to have a back injury, a leg injury, a foot injury and why?

A: The worst, I would say, a foot injury because you have to run a lot. You have to plant, cut. I would say a foot injury if you’re asking me.

Q: A back can be tricky as well?

A: Yes. It depends on the type of back injury that it is. From mine, it wasn’t that serious. Thank God. Just getting better.

Q: Did thoughts go through your head as in “not now, I need to be healthy with playoffs coming up”?

A: No thoughts. I play this game as if anything can happen at any time. You just have to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I got the best out of my situation.

Q: You have no doubt that despite this game, you’ll go into your first playoff game feeling how you need to feel?

A: I’ll go in there feeling the way I need to feel.

Q: If it was a playoff game last week do you think you would’ve been able to go out there?

A: I don’t know. Last week is last week. I’m onto this week. I might be out there this week if you look for me.

Q: Coach McAdoo said that there is only one blemish on your home record this year. That’s the team you’re playing. Would it be nice to reverse the favor?

A: We just have to attack this game as if we’re trying to win. Can’t get caught up in the playoff situation and what’s going on on their end. Just have to get a win and prepare for the playoffs.

Q: Do you want to see yourself hit before the playoffs to erase any doubt in your mind?

A: I never have doubt once I’m on the field.

Q: What are you expecting when you do get to that playoff game and get that opportunity in that atmosphere?

A: Just play as hard as you can as fast as you can and don’t worry. Whatever happens happens. All we can do is play to the best of our ability and hopefully come out with a win.

Q: Do you think it’ll be just like all the other regular season games you played in?

A: It’ll be a little different noise wise and fan wise. As a New York Giant, we’re just focused on winning and playing within the scheme. Making it to the next step.

Q: How much is that why you came here?

A: It’s a big part. I always was a champion and I strive to be a champion. Me coming here is just another step.

"A back can be tricky as well?" No, no, it's perfectly fine to hurt your back as a football player or any other type of living anything on this planet that is classified as a vertebrate creature. Fucking idiots.

I hate to say it but the quality of the beat writer articles has plummeted in recent weeks too.

What do you expect them to ask? They talk to these guys every week. They're not going to ask the "hard hitting" questions.

I love how fans just assume that the writers are stupid. It's easy to say what you'd do in their shoes. They all act and ask the same questions for a reason.
I lean strongly to Big Blue '56

(not often I say that...(:> ), because that is some of the dumbest s..t I've
ever seen, all of 'em, to Coach Mac as well. Old Dirty One, they could give some thought to the questions, tweak them, so as to improve the odds that the Qs elicit some info. Was it a contusion, still tender? Did it hinder him in practice today in any way (instead of: what injury is the worst for a DB, does a back complicate it? my goodness): Does it bother him to plant or cut? Will he consider wearing a wear a flack jacket? etc.

In terms of Eric's comment about the caliber of beat writers' articles plummeting, seems to be so. One piece posted here about JJ injury talked about Eli Apple "being forced into playing a CB role", when that is where his predominant playing time has been with DRC in the slot.
Even if the beat writers did ask good questions

do you really expect the players to answer with substance? Some of these guys, quite frankly, aren't up to that task. Others would be up to it, but realize there's no upside to it for them.

It's all a big dance. The players speak in banalities. The writers walk in with a particular story in mind, and ask questions framed in such a way as to get answers they can shoehorn into that story.

If the NFL would allow it, I don't think teams would ever let their players and coaches talk to the press.
I love Jackrabbit

He brings a lot of swagger to this defense. Obvious a terrific player, but I love the attitude as well.
Just get back out on the field playing at same level as before

so I can stop hating Trevin Wade...
