On a positive note he showed he still has it for another playoff push-
Get healthy and get 3 new offensive faces (tackle te and wr) and he showed today he has the goods to get it done.
Well played today 10... you got us going early and the wr let us down when we had a shot to get ahead.
Today perpetuates the book on Eli: he has another level, where he plays as well as an pocket passer, that he can take it to - and often does in big games.
I know the story line will be that OBJ dropped 3-4 balls - truth is he had one bad miss and the rest would have been sensational catches that he sometimes makes because he's elite but didn't today and given how open he was on most of them it's a shame the ball wasn't better placed
Eli can still deliver the goods, but he needs more help

Why am I not surprised you chimed in with this shit...? Unlike those other QB's Eli has zero margin for error...Ben threw 2 ints and won in a blowout and Wilson had a RB gain 160 yards...Brady has the best defense in the league as well as a top 7 rushing attack...
Save this bullshit for your awesome game thread contributions...

The touchdown was an easy one. I mean come on, lets not act like he didnt get two hands on the ball. He also fucked up a hot route in the middle of the game and had a few 1 on 1 opportunities to get open.
Eli gave him many chances to to make plays. He made ZERO.
Defense played great until the end and then it came apart in no small part to the offense not doing enough.
our two best receivers were tye and king. SS dropped some big time passes. Cruz got as much seperation as a fat kid does on a vertical jump from the ground. Beckham probably had the worst game of his life. We couldnt run. And Flowers sucked again.
But other than that, Eli was awful.

Agreed. Thirty five is not thirty or twenty five. If you want a few more years of top play from Eli, protect him from getting hit. That should be doable since the defense is pretty set.
Eli's teammates let him down today.
As for some of the questionable play calls, we may never know if that was more on McAdoo, or Eli with some bad audibles, so that criticism could be fair (for example, the awful run to Rainey on 3rd and 1)
The 2nd half, the balloon popped. I wouldn't put too much stock in it going forward. Everything fell apart.

I have a different definition of excellent than the OP (watch Brady next weekend or Rodgers second half without his best player against a good defense again today for that definition)

I rarely comment in the gamethreads actually. No idea who you are by the way (don't particularly care just FYI)

This is a very honest and fair assessment of Eli's play today. It's hard for some of the posters trashing your post to be objective about Eli because they have a truly weird and unhealthy fetish with Eli.
Shepard for sure dropped a nice throw after that though.
Bottom line the offense scored just 13 points against a crap defense today. So 'excellent' doesn't describe anyone's play today offensively.
Sorry if a guy in section 332 nosebleeds who I've never heard of gets butt hurt over that.

Yeah I know a guy like you only sits in Club seats...I think you need to rewatch the TD drop he got both hands on it...you must have been too busy posting on the gamethread to notice...

We all love Eli but I have a hard time looking at the first obj touchdown miss saying 'how did he drop that'? The ball was overthrown... Obj accelerated as not many can to get outstretched fingers on it.... Doesn't by any means make the catch routine.

I'm touched with your infatuation. Would you like an autograph?

Lmfao with a handle like this you talk about unhealthy fetishes..???
One thing to note. Aikman said on the first couple possessions, GB played a lot of single high man and blitzed Eli. Right around the 2nd corner, they went back to traditional cover 2, and out offense looked like - well our offense.

Good one!!
Good post, summed up my thoughts better than I could

He was saddled with bad field position, an mediocre running game, and receivers who turned good passes into shit. The protection disintegrated as the game went on. Eli is way down on the list as to why we lost this game. Way down.

Agree
When the Packers switched back to cover 2, like every team has played us this year, the offense reverted to what it was all season-- a team that can't run against a defense allowing us to run, a O-line that can't pass protect to save its life, and a stable of tiny receivers and tight ends who can't win fights in traffic outside of one superstar.
We
Yes in fact his OL is probably the best in the legue this year and his WR corps is probably top 5. Doesnt take anything away from Rodgers but he does have an excellent OL and WRs.
OOPS!
You can't base anything on the Pro Bowl.
Actually, PFF has their OL I believe ranked #1 or 2 with 3 of their players ranked in the top 3 at their position.
OOPS x2.
I would speculate that if Eli was behind the GB offense they would lose. Likewise put Rodgers behind our offense and we are SB bound.
Screw PFF but I can see that Eli is no longer one of the better QB's in the league. Its not even close.
OOPS x 3.
Giants? 20th with two of the worst tackles in all of football. I am sure Rodgers would love holding the ball knowing he is going to get hit on both sides.
The real issue is what type of QB is Eli at this stage of his career. You threw PFF into the mix talking about OL rankings . Yes they rated GB OL better then I would have expected so take a bow with resounding applause. But it also clearly ranks Eli as a bottom tier QB at 24th . So do you cherry pick here and be a blind homer or face the music that your favorite Giant has jumped the shark?
k?
Try again, Nancy
Oops x too many to count now.
FINAl OL rankings - ( New Window )
There are plenty of other playoff bound teams with worse ranked PFF OL then the Giants.( Seattle Minn Miami). Plus another few playoff teams with almost identical OL rankings with the Giants.( Detroit houston ). Is this a credit to the other QB's or to ELi? Neither?
In fairness there were also higher ranked OL that never made the playoffs . So is this a credit to Eli?
Since PF has become our reference notice Eli is ranked around 24th by PFF even lower then our OL.
PFF has good and bad points. I think certain QB's make an OL look better because a combination of feet vision arm and knowing when to hold and when to fold inside the pocket . How does PF account for that?
This years best QB's are going deep in the playoffs and haver some of the better PFF OL . So which came first the chicken or the egg?
