Eli was excellent today

And yet there are the typical BBI members trying to blame him for this loss in the game threads

It will be overlooked, but Eli played well today.

A lot of his passes were behind the receivers or too high. He did okay.

the Giants need to get Eli's replacement and top tier olineman in the first two rounds.

Eli was good today. Old man still has gas left in the tank.

And had some time to throw. He over threw a few balls throw.

lazy (Hail Mary), stupid (fumble), lacked focus (OBJ) and can't prioritize (Miami)

At least we don't have to worry about QB forvanother few years (barring injury).

next season confident he's still got something left. There were times this year that I wasn't so sure. We don't have to spend a high pick on a QB. Cowboys got Dak in round 4. If there's a guy there we like we can take him if not ok to wait until the 2018 draft.

Eli was very solid today. the ultimate professional came ready to play. Some others on that Offense not so much.

three pass knocked down and missing Beckham wide open in the 4th qtr, he played great. He really did.

Not meant to be a knock, he played well today. His receivers let him down.

It was one of his best games this year. Absolutely. He was simply out played by Rodgers.

This game was not lost bc of Eli but he didn't exactly win it either. Pretty average performance if you ask me. He is basically a non-factor at this point in his career.

He threw for 300 yards, and would have had 350+ with only half the drops. He threw for 1 TD but should have had 2 TDs. I think thats pretty good on the road in a playoff game.

Feeling much better about Eli than admittedly I did for most of the season. Two new OT's with Flowers moved to RG, a TE and another RB and they'll be in good shape next season. And yes I know that's a lot but if they draft well and sign two solid FA's they can get it done.

The passing game was working. I think the playcalling totally fucked Eli n the Os flow. He looked grreat, I was like "oh shit, maybe Eli does have magic in him" Everyone was involved. Then we went conservative once we had the lead n relied on the D. Its crazy how fast things changed n how we looked like the more physical n dominating team. We need to have that passing attack non stop n not break up the flow. Maybe we can actually blow teams out if the D keeps playing well. After that nice start, it goes back to the same old giants. Looking like they want it a close low scoring game n putting so much damn pressure on the D. I aint gunna lie, Beckham has many drops on deep balls this year. Hes explosive n can make circus catches but hes gotta focus on the routine shit. I really dont want to knock him. What was it though? 28 yards against 31st worst passing D? very disappointing. I kno ben wants to be a dink n dunk team. A hard running football team. U can use that to set up the longer passes MORE frequently. Not once every 8 plays, especially when u actually had protection, it was working, AND ur going against a bad secondary. I dont think he tried to take advantage no where near as much as he should. He played to GB strengths.

I agree with your first point, but not the second one. A better o-line, running game, and improved talent at WR could make Eli a top notch QB again. He put up fabulous numbers the previous 2 seasons. Even with the numbers Odell put up this season, teams decided he wasn't going to beat them for the big play anymore. This offense just looks like garbage when Odell can't save the day. That's less about Eli (or even Odell) than it is about the players around them.

Rogers receivers were wide open and he had all day. Any QB could've made those throws.

shame his chances at another ring stalled by the whole system and effort today. Looked promising, but old season haunts and lack of plays reflect on the DNA of this seasons offense. Defense did well till the game got off balance. Very disappointed in our WR crew beyond King performance,

Not at all.

I would save the criticism for others. N have faith in Eli next year. I wrote about ourr D lines non pressure without blitzing since the DAL game. This was a bad team n qb to give time. N with DRC going down, it made things worse for spags. Trying to decide when to blitz. Its a shame, we dunno who will be healthy nxt year. A ruined opportunity. Eli showed me he can get it done though.

Rogers had all day to throw so comparing the 2 isn't fair. I totally agree Eli would be still be very good with a dominant oline but that's the problem. He is not good enough anymore to overcome a bad line.

managed the game was off on a couple of throws but WRs and HC/OC did not help him down the stretch also ST was BAD this game. That was a big factor as well.

It's too bad Beckham and Shepherd couldn't catch a fucking cold for a good part of the game.

but he was a + for the team... had been a minus in many games.... i leave this game depressed about a lot of things but not our quarterback.

For arguably the top WR in the game he played like a straight up JAG vs a bad secondary.

Eli came to play along with Tye and King. Too bad no one else on offense did.

as could be expected. Besides the early drops on passes , the big problem was inability to run. And a good TE would do wonders .

argument with a couple of people after the game. Eli was ok. Everyone always wants to throw the WR under the bus because it "hit their hands". That first "drop" by Beckham when he had five yards of separation was not a good throw. Outside and slightly overthrown when it didn't need to be. Most people will put that on OBJ, but Eli had as much responsibility as Beckham on that lack of execution. Sam on the next play to Shep. Underthrown on that one to a guy that had huge separation. To each there own I guess. And Eli is my favorite Giant of all time by the way. Special teams, hail mary, so many other things to be pissed at, but that is my take on Eli. And yes both plays early first quarter, but I think it was similar throughout the game.

He has at least 2-3 very good years in him IMO.

You can't expect a pure pocket passer to perform well with a shitty OL. You definitely expect him to suffer specially after 3-4 seasons of poor OL play and running game.

Today, the OL gives him a little more time, and you see Eli moving around the pocket nicely again. The playoffs is a factor in him playing better, but but that extra second or 2 was a bigger factor I think

just took a hit, though.

If Odell was the Odell we saw all year, we'd still have lost, but only because of our horrific ST play and their excellent ST play.

Today perpetuates the book on Eli: he has another level, where he plays as well as an pocket passer, that he can take it to - and often does in big games.

It is comforting to see that, but I think he needs to be surrounded with better talent for this team to win these kind of games. The fact that we couldn't even score 30 points or more in any game that's year is an indictment of the offense. Eli still has the ability to get the ball there. He looks like he's got at least 2 more years left in him. He MUST be surrounded with better talent and the Oline needs to get much, much better for him as well.

but today was not one of them.

Ultimately the dropped passes were momentum killers.

get Eli into the playoffs and he'll make the magic happen. Eli played well today, but no magic.
