NFT: FOX HD picture quality

Did anyone else notice how bad the picture quality was on last night's game. I have a 65 inch sony 4k tv and every game on nbc and cbs looks great. Fox has always been subpar but last night's game was atrocious almost SD. Bad enough we lost but the quality was horrible. BTW i have FIOS

picture was crystal clear

I have FiOS and it was very clear. When the shot showed the field, it was pretty torn up, so there could be some background "graniness", but when they cut to sideline shots or zeroed in on a play, picture was sharp.

Mine was worse than usual too.

Could be an issue with the local satellite feed

It looked okay to me. But the NBC games always seem to be a little bit clearer than the FOX feeds. The SNF games always look amazing on my TV.

I knew this was the case as of a few years ago but wasn't sure if it still was. Is there any particular reason why FOX is still broadcasting in 720p?

720p and 1080i both push the same amount of data

720p has double the frame rate (60 frames/sec). In theory, it should have less motion blur than 1080i. I'm not sure it's as relavent today, as modern signal processors can compensate somewhat for the lower frame rate. But it still matters to some degree.

I imagine Fox has decided it's not worth replacing all their equipment for an "upgrade" to 1080i, given the reduction in frame rate. Probably going to jump to 4K at some point.

Fox games always look terrible...
