NFT: Troy Aikman "A Football Life"

Jim in Forest Hills : 1/10/2017 8:59 pm
Didn't know too much about him, but I have a newfound respect for the guy. Came off really well. His backstory with his family and dad was interesting. His college career with Johnson/Switzer also fascinating. Didn't know he was going to OK State. His sideline rant about Switzer was fantastic. Supporting Irvin through legal troubles. Now a dad. I will hate him a little less on Sundays.
I think you

mean Oklahoma and not OK St.
Troy always seemed like a good dude

and I enjoy him and Buck in the broadcast booth.
Never hated him as a person

Player and NFL commentator sure, but never a person.
hated two things
RasputinPrime : 1/10/2017 9:24 pm : link
1 - Cowboy
2 - Had a stellar supporting cast that made him better. Damn that O-line and history repeating itself.
Never had a problem with Aikman

as a commentator, I think he's very fair to the Giants and Eli. I have heard many Cowboy fans accuse him of being anti-Cowboy!
Decent Commentator

I was worried that he was going to be all about the Cowboys as s commentator, but he is one of the better color guys out there in my opinion. Way better than listening to Collinsworth for three hours
Did they show the part where he is in leather chaps

and a Tiara and dancing around in a club?
He was awesome

Romo couldn't hold his jock.
I think the OP did mean OK St

Johnson was the HC there and was also trying to get Aikman. He chose OKlahoma.
Aikman seems like

Despises Skip Bayless and rips him thoroughly. What's not to like?

Dak is nowhere as good as he was.
I generally like aikman a lot

But I had the complete opposite impression of his "football life" episode. I found it to be highly self serving and a lot of CYA. Basically, as things started to go south in Dallas, it was "woe is me, wonderful leader that I am, they're putting too much on my plate, I have to be the qb and the coach because no one else holds anybody accountable for anything around here."

There may be a sliver of truth to that, but he was a little forceful in harping on that theme. Aikman has little to complain about in my view when it comes to his lot in life as a QB. He had a ton of help, and while he was a good QB, I believe in many alternate situations he could have gone on to a rather uneventful career as merely a decent player

That joke wasn't funny in 2002. Now it just comes off as homophobic and childish. Actually it was just that in 2002 as well.
