Strange Raiders Move - Bill Musgrave Out as OC

Suburbanites : 1/10/2017 9:36 pm
The Raiders had the 7th best offense in football this past season. Musgrave is highly thought of and prior to the Raiders had success as an OC with the Vikings, Jaguars and Eagles.

Bye bye Sullivan

Hello Musgrave.

Let's go Reese. Reboot the O.
Reese

Doesn't hire the coaches. The HC does.
Move sully back to QB coach

Get rid of that sycophant Cignetti.
Sounds like Del Rio

wasn't a big fan of Musgrave's playcalling and they were concerned with losing Todd Downing, who was the QB coach who helped turn Carr into a Pro Bowler, so they decided to ditch Musgrave and promote Downing.

Were more concerned over losing their QB coach if he wasn't made the OC. Musgrave's contract was up. The Raiders chose not to renew it. According to Raider fans I know they thought he was too quick to abandon the running game. While they were productive, they would have preferred to take pressure of the D by chewing more clock
One of my friends is a Raiders fan...

He basically echoed what Matt and Mike said word for word.
A good OC

who understands our offense.
The raiders have a lot of talent on offense.

It's not Bill Musgrave wizardry. Their offensive line was an ass kicker.

I don't think we need wizardry. Competence would be enough. An offense with more than 3 personnel groupings would be fantastic.

It's been argued plenty already. If you can't pass protect and you can't run, it's really hard to run offense of any sort. The alignment of the WRs or __ number of TEs on the field that aren't any good won't matter.

Personnel obviously is the main problem. Still, I don't know if Sully is the guy.
Musgrave was not a great play caller/game planner
Vanzetti : 1/11/2017 1:17 am : link
The Raiders offense generally went nowhere until they abandoned the game plan because they had to play catchup and go to the passing game.

That's why they had so many dramatic 4th quarter comebacks : offense was at its best when they abounded the game plan and went to Carr improvising
