prominent players I think won’t be back:

Nassib.
Jennings.
Rainey.
Cruz.
Harris.
Donnell.
Jerry.
Gettis.
JPP.
Sheppard.
Thomas.
Herzlich.
Skinner.
Wade.
Gould.

Not sure about Darkwa, Beatty, Wynn, and DRC.
I think Jerry will be back albeit in a reserve role..

Wade? I thought he improved over last season. I think the Giants like him and keep him for depth..

I believe Robert Thomas is an exclusive rights free agent. He'll be back.

I meant J.T. Thomas.
you have to bring back
jtfuoco : 1/11/2017 11:00 am : link
DRC for that kind of money 6 million is nothing for a top end CB in todays NFL.

I was surprised Pugh makes 8.9 million not sure he is worth that especially playing guard

I would think Darkwa and Beatty are goners. Wynn kind of sucks but as a 4th DE/ST guy I have no issues bringing him back. DRC I think is a guy to bring back because then we'd need to bring in 2-3 cb's instead of 1-2. We have a strength in the secondary. Weakening it makes little sense. JPP could be hard to replace in the draft. I'd bring him back. I'd dump Harris only with the thought that we'd be drafting a WR who can potentially share PR duties with Beckham.

I'd bring back all four. I'm just not sure the Giants will.
How is it that Pugh is making over 8 Mil
Simms11 : 1/11/2017 11:23 am : link
next year? I thought he was still on his rookie contract? He definitely needs a new contract this off-season. I would assume it would come down if we extended him under a new contract?
Hankins is much easier to replace than JPP

idiotsavant : 1/11/2017 11:45 am : link
Hank is not 'easy to replace.'

Shane Vereen 3,150,000 CUT

Rashad Jennings 2,480,000 CUT

Victor Cruz 6,400,000 7,400,000 CUT (sorry old chum, mocked you in a good way, cash for Hank and JPP)

Will Tye FA KEEP
Jerell Adams 540,000 630,000 720,000

Larry Donnell CUT

Matt LaCosse KEEP

Marshall Newhouse CUT

Jason Pierre-Paul KEEP

Romeo Okwara 540,000 630,000 KEEP

Kerry Wynn KEEP

Johnathan Hankins KEEP

Jay Bromley 725,000 CUT

OWA CUT

Robert Thomas CUT

J.T. Thomas 2,975,000 CUT

Defensive Backs:
Janoris Jenkins 12,900,000 10,900,000 10,150,000
Eli Apple 1,138,742 1,827,484 2,516,226
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie 6,480,000 6,480,000

Mykkele Thompson 615,000 705,000 CUT

Of course Hankins is not "Easy" to replace
est1986 : 1/11/2017 12:20 pm : link
But it will be "Easier" to replace him than Jason Pierre Paul. 2nd Round stud DT's are jerry's special.
DRC
Giants86 : 1/11/2017 2:56 pm : link
is great. Needs to stay and at that price is a relative bargain
I can't believe Jonathan Hankins has been here 4 years now.

This coming year is Pugh's 5th year option on his rookie deal. It is guaranteed for injury only. If there is no extended contract and he is on the roster on opening day, then he gets the 8 mil. The 5th year option for players not selected in the top 10 of the first round is calculated as the average between the 3rd and 25th highest prior year salaries for the position.

Any extension should have active game day clauses to protect the team and lower his salary cap hit for every year that he doesn't play an entire season. He has only played in 16 regular season games his rookie year. Every year since, he's been injured.
Cruz and possibly Harris are cap casualties
George from PA : 1/11/2017 10:10 pm : link
The way the cap has risen...Most of these #'s are reasonable.

Pugh will get a long term deal to spread his number.

The big 3 FA from last year earned their deal.

I would keep DRC as he can not be replaced easily
