NFT: Dishwasher help - went from flooding to not drawing water

mattlawson : 1/11/2017 10:17 pm
My wife called me today to let me know the dishwasher was pouring water onto the floor uncontrollably even with it powered off. I came home, shutoff the hot water feed so it stopped leaking, cleaned up, and messed around with trying to get it to drain out which eventually it did. i pulled the thing out, turned everything back on, no stoppages, no leaks are visible, but now it wont draw water and it seems like it's constantly trying to drain water without actually drawing any new water in or doing anything in terms of cleaning.

It's a Bosch front control unit - probably 5-6 years old. anyone with experience, what am i looking for? all the repairs guys out here are booked up for at least another week. seems like a switch regarding the water level, or something along those lines might now be bad. whats the repair cost on that kind of thing and am i better off looking at a new one? we inherited the washer with the house purchase.

any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a float switch

That just a guess, but it sounds right. Replacing it will probably involve pulling the dishwasher out from under cabinet and removing components.

If you want to give it a go, do a search for replacing it on your model.
It's the Fetzer valve

You're going to need some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads.
And ball bearings!
