Has some nice, YOUNG O weapons, and mucho dinero to buy lots of fill in talent to be good quickly.
A non TC move but great for the team, if the personality fits in.
He is a gimmick coach. Plain and simple. What he does is not something you can expect to sustain success in the pros.
This is simply not true. He's a very creative coach who tried some new things in the NFL...some that stuck and some that didn't. By all accounts, he's also very intelligent and will most likely learn from his experience and continue to get better as a coach. I wouldn't write him off at all yet and if he becomes a coordinator in the league, I expect him to eventually become a great one.
or be involved in business decisions but he can definitely get more out of players than most coaches can, he's proven that. If his sole responsibility it to run the offense I think he can do a good job. I wonder who in college has reached out to him and whether an NFL OC is his best option right now.
His Offense is creative and geared to mismatching players in space--- and guys who like to play with Speed in Space are greatly enhanced in his offense.
The big flaw is the 8-15 seconds per play....give yourself a turnover and 1-2 3 and outs, and you wear out your own defense.
His secondary flaw is Roster Composition and player selection...that would be out of his control
Kelly from the gate has created some pretty impressive game plans to start games.
14-0 lead on Dallas with Gabbert.
14-0 lead on Tampa.
He got shut down and lost those games, so maybe his adjustment ability is garbage or Kap is only a first half QB.
But he's a sharp guy within the context of getting guys open.
The all shotgun all the time is a big issue, but for an uptempo offense he has the goods.
Hard to learn much from his SF stint due to the crap he had at QB. With the limited offseason practices, it's also hard to install a new scheme in only one year (especially with Kaep as your QB).
And not kill the defense, the first 3 plays in a series cannot be hurry up in 15 seconds or less. After 3 plays, your defense could be rested a little and then it might work.
The backstory is TC wanted to bring Kelly on as an offensive assistant
I bet their DC is rooting against this. His scheme exhausts his own teams defense. Chip will always be okay in my book though after visiting Victor Cruz in the hospital the night he suffered that devastating injury. That was an all-time classy move.
Tyrone Wheatley will be the new running backs coach.

It's definitely pace. However, I will say his scheme won't work at the NFL level without pace, IMO.
Additionally, a system that doesn't allow your QB to change plays at the LOS and evaluate what's going on (or utilize cadence).....simply isn't going to work at crunch time, or in the long run.
It will, however, beat up on weaker teams. Which is exactly what Chip did in Philly.
RE: RE: I truly don't understand why NFL teams continue to be interested.

Bill Belichick disagrees with you. He has picked Kelly's brain on numerous occasions.
Just because he picks his brain doesn't mean he agrees what he does in it's entirety. I am sure Kelly has some interesting concepts.
BB hurrying up at goal line offense is one of the the things he picked up from Kelly.
(However, I am not sure why teams panic in this situation, and simply just bulldoze the center before the snap to stop the play...what's the difference in half the distance to the goal from the one yard line?)

He was still in New Hampshire when he turned Coughlin down I believe. Respkt?

A few years ago and Kelly went somewhere else, I think to Oregon to be the OC.

And yes, Belichick also consulted him for offensive ideas.
I agree. I'm just curious who they interviewed.
