USC Dback/wr Adoree Jackson declares for draft

superspynyg : 1/17/2017 1:35 pm
What do you think of him? He could be a Cb or FS and returner or even a wr in some packages? Has huge big play potential.

I doubt the Giants use a first round on him having taken Apple last year. but where do you think he will go?
Not a big fan

I think his true value lies as a return guy... As a DB, I see too many big plays given up by him. John Ross III turned him inside out.

So did Godwin.
Scout Anak is definitely my favorite Anak

I wouldn't mind taking him at 23

Could play both slot corner and WR. Plus a dynamite returner, which is something we need to add to our game.
He's a bad corner

I'm surprised USC never gave him a chance to play WR full time. If he has any chance to be anything besides a PR/KR in the NFL it's on the offensive side of the ball
at 23

with the needs we have on the line and at TE he would be an awful pick. He couldn't cover college receivers, what makes you believe he's going to be able to cover NFL receivers?

He doesn't have the reps at the position a lot of the other corners have. Daniel Jeremiah:

As a cornerback, he needs to improve his technique and eye discipline, but he has extremely quick feet, elite catch-up speed and outstanding ball skills. He is at his best in off coverage where he can explode out of his pedal and make plays on the ball. On offense, he can take a quick underneath throw and score from anywhere on the field. He is one of the best returners I've ever evaluated. Overall, Jackson will need some time to develop as a cornerback, but he has all of the tools to eventually succeed outside or inside in the slot. He should be a Pro Bowl returner early in his career.

what do you mean he doesn't have the reps?
MookGiants : 1/17/2017 1:57 pm : link
He's been getting abused as a corner for two straight years now. Against ND in 2015 Fuller was running by him like he was standing still. He is a terrific returner but for whatever reason his physical skills haven't translated to corner.
I go to a ton of USC games

I like the kid's athleticism, but I'd be pretty pissed if we burned a #1 on him. His future is as a Hester redux.
Agreed
ryanmkeane : 1/17/2017 2:09 pm : link
with the majority..he has excellent return potential and even a deep receiver type...but a #1 pick on him would be a shock for me...wouldn't like it.
Are draftniks giving him a first round grade?
Milton : 1/17/2017 2:13 pm : link
Sounds more like a third or fourth round pick the way he is being described.
I only saw him vs ND this year
superspynyg : 1/17/2017 2:30 pm : link
and he burned them (like everyone else) over and over. I wanted to see what others thought.

So basically, he's a lot like Devin Hester
You're drafting him for return ability
Sy'56 : 1/17/2017 3:27 pm : link
and hoping he can be a decent nickel corner.

Do you think some teams look at him as a returner and offensive player? Maybe a Tyreek Hill type on offense.

Yes.
Jackson
Marty866b : 1/17/2017 11:10 pm : link
Maybe the most dynamic return guy ever in college football. He is incredible with the ball in his hands. He's an undersized corner who MAY be a good slot corner though he never played there in college. IMO, he would be best as a slot receiver and used in some ways as Hill does in Kansas City. I have seen every play that Jackson has played at USC is there is NO WAY I want the Giants to select him at 23. Also, I disagree with Stan,Adoree is a real good kid and not a flake.
