NFT: Replacing outer shield on roof-mounted attic vent fan (pic)

FranknWeezer : 1/17/2017 2:08 pm
I found a cracked and dislodged shield to my roof-mounted attic vent fan in the yard the other day. It's very flimsy plastic and looks almost exactly like this (except broken):

Having a heck of a time trying to find a replacement shield anywhere online. Most of what I'm finding is the entire vent fan kit, and I'm not looking to replace/reinstall the whole thing...just the cover which attaches w/ 4 screws.

Anybody have any ideas of an online supplier where I may be able to purchase just the shield? Thanks in advance!

has this available https://www.lowes.com/pd/Air-Vent-Mill-Galvanized-Steel-Round-Roof-Louver/3051935

Also found the full attic fan on Northern Tool, they might have accessories

Thanks, Maverick. ;-)

I saw that one, too. Not sure it's compatible with mine, but maybe I could drill holes that line up and make it work. Also found that 'shield' produced few results, but I had a bit more luck with 'cover', 'cap' and 'louver.' Appreciate it.
They're cheap and easy to replace

or just get a piece of sheet and a couple of screws and cover it.
something to consider

might be the picture, but how old is your roof. Might need replacing. Also, some of the new roofs eliminate the need for these as well.
