2 wins amid a sea of rancid diarrrhea (see: losses to COL, AZ among many others) does not a job save. Poor job constructing lines over the years, an unfailing loyalty/reliance on vets over giving kids a chance, and the death knell of believing that said lackluster vets represented a better chance for the team to succeed if everyone stuck to "the system". Turning a speed/skill team into a bunch of grindahs and chasuhs robbed the team of its identity and success and was a losing "system".
I'm fine with Dougie Fresh as interim coach as long as it's tied to a sweeping change of the staff in the offseason. I'm just happy Cappy isn't around to ruin anyone that may come in a trade later on. I've also read some tweets that the entire staff, minors as well, is being looked at. Still scares me that Snow is at the controls as I really don't want him damaging the team further at the deadline. It would really be something if he steps down in tandem with Cappy's ouster.
No more shuffling lines 3 times a game. No more scapegoating young players and jerking them all around the lineup/press box. No more overplaying veterans based on nothing but veteranness.
I am less hopeful the systems will change under Weight. It would be amazing if they stop conceding the blue line.
The season has been over since Thanksgiving, and this is all meaningless unless Snow goes as well. I pray the ownership has a leash on him come trading deadline.

Because it's spitballing that people take as gospel, but the current rumor (and I mentioned to some of our crew that I don't put much stock in it) is Pulock & Ho-Sang for Duchene or Landeskog. If that's legit (and I don't advocate trading Pulock, FWIW), I strongly prefer Landeskog. The Isles are supposedly "in talks" with 2 West teams, and I surmise COL is one of them.
As I said, I wouldn't want to trade Pulock at all, but I suppose if they did it's because they're encouraged with what they see from Pelech, to some degree Mayfield (although I don't think he's a long-term solution) and the fact that Toews has gotten rave reviews. Plus there's Quenneville and Wotherspoon that look promising, so I suppose we feel there's adequate depth to move someone.
To that end, if I had to take a stab at who might garner interest or be viewed as attractive in any moves (note: not all are centerpieces but could be used as part of a trade): F - Bailey (there are contenders that would love to have him as depth), Strome (although he'll be given a new lease on life without Cappy around), Nelson (although they'll see if he is energized by a Cappy ouster), Prince and BVR (although to me, he's off limits). D - Anyone not named Leddy. Unlikely Boychuk gets moved due to his contract and NTC, but Hammer (although unlikely given he's a heart-and-soul guy, but I'd move him in the right deal; in fact I'd rather move Hamonic than Pulock), CDH and Hickey would all be welcomed as 3rd pair depth for a team ascending/contending.

OTOH, if others call to inquire about player availability, if it's a trade that benefits us short and long term, you have to listen. But he's scared me enough that I prefer to just ride this out and clean house in the offseason.

they are going to lose either CdH or Pulock to Vegas. That sucks. Much as I want Snow's keys taken away, trading a D would help. Boychuk's contract is prohibitive. Nobody is touching that. Leddy should be untouchable. That leaves Hamonic. He is righthanded and on a reasonable deal.

With the closer hands-on observation in the past 2 months from Ledecky, also speaking to ownership/management of other teams around putting a first class front office structure together, Garth's feet just got a little closer to the fire today. I like the idea of going after a young coach. A coach who will stress an aggressive forechecking system.
Next year should see the additions of Barzal and a couple of the young defenseman. I want a coach who is not allergic to playing the kids.
