He played very well on both ends of the court. Melo was invisible most of the game, didn't really add much, but was smart enough to realize that other things were working and he didn't force too many shots. The bench was awesome all game. I hope Lance Thomas is stuck to the bench when he is healthy because there are other players who add a lot more.

Carmelo is a power forward. Phil should have passed on Noah & Lee and signed Dwayne Wade for 2 years. KP, Melo, Wade, Rose & (fill in blank)
it's funny seeing the drastic turns from game to game. After last game Noah was a glue guy that people would like to keep through the rebuild. Now he's unnecessary because our bench had a good game. To me the odd man out is O'Quinn. Hernangomez is a good back up to Noah.
O'Quinn/Noah for a SF. Then start Melo/Zinger at PF/C and have a three headed backup C of OQuinn/Willy/Plumlee.
Are we gonna get a better SF than Kuz with those guys? He's averaging 15 points per 36.
Meh, not a big Kuz guy yet. He is a nice bench player but isn't NBA starting material IMO.
Don't disagree but what stud SF are we gonna get from KOQ that's gonna be significantly better than Kuz? More likely than not we get picks for KOQ and I wouldn't be against that. He has a nice contract till he doesn't. Don't want to be a part of it if KP is going to play 5 and Willy/Noah are on the roster.

but it's amazing they gave out that contract when they had a ton of cheap, young options on the roster. I tend to agree with shopping O'Quinn - gotta break the front court logjam. This isn't the 1980s.
He didn't hurt the team in any way. Wasn't good defensively, but wasn't terrible. Added nothing on offense, but didn't force too much out of the offense. That's about as good as you can say for him after tonight, but the focus should be on the W. It was a good win and we were carried by the bench and Rose.
have 5 guys who can play center if you include KP and Plumlee.
That's probably two too many.
I never thought I'd say this but the team is too deep right now. They have 13 legit NBA rotation players. Bundle a few guys up and get some picks/better quality.
Last I heard he was already kind of sick of losing and not even playing well.
No clue. He shows flashes. Don't think those in sixers fans care that much given Embiid but holy shit did they whiff. If they chose KP, Booker or Turner how crazy would that have been? Hindsight is 20/20. Hezonja and Mudiay were probably just as much in the running for that pick as KP was.
and we are including him in our logjam at center? The dude has gone back and forth from NBA to D-league more than he's played in games. He played because we were missing 2 starters and filled in admirably, but lets not include him in any rotations when fully healthy.
but it's amazing they gave out that contract when they had a ton of cheap, young options on the roster.
Easy to say now, but six months ago nobody knew what they were going to get from Plumlee or Billy. They were complete unknowns. And we all thought we'd get at least 1 good year from Noah if not 2.
Even if Plumlee doesn't play, you can divide up the minutes between KP, Willy and Noah. Plumlee is around for the inevitable injuries. I go back and forth on trading O'Quinn, but we have too many bigs for today's league and he's the most tradeable.
We need to be bundling depth for quality starters and/or high picks. Not trading depth for more depth.
I'd love to see us make a move for Eric Bledsoe for example.
Just because we beat Boston doesn't mean we change our organizational direction. Phil would've traded Melo yesterday if it weren't for the NTC. I don't want us to acquire average players to be in the same damn spot for the next 5 years.
Let's not celebrate like we're going to get the 2nd season all of a sudden. Hell, the 8th seed still seems like a 50/50 bet.

I don't think you're understanding my point. I don't think Eric Bledsoe is an example of an average player. But if we're talking about trading assets, the point is to make a discernible improvement to your team. Trading KOQ for 2 seconds is devaluing him. Packaging him with other good but not great players for a great player is a great way to bring this team to another level.

sad part knicks could win 3 in a row and be the 7th seed by sundah
KOQ isn't getting you much. Get as many chances to get young players. Some of these 2nd rounders coming in these days are making impact.
Bledsoe is absolutely average. And I like him as a player. I thought he could start on many teams when he was backing up CP3. But if you're ranking the NBA PGs he's around 15. He's not that much better than Rose. Yeah I would take Bledsoe over Rose but if we're gonna get swept by Cleveland with Derrick Rose we're going to get swept by Cleveland with Bledsoe.
It's a lateral move. So would be letting Rose walk and maxing Jrue Holiday. It doesn't move this team forward by any measure.

We could just as well lose those 3 and get passed by the sixers by next week.

oh i very much agree, i expect them to be blown out tomorrow
you've set a high bar if you think Eric Bledsoe is an average NBA player.
I should clarify. I think he's an average NBA starting PG. Same thing I think about with Derrick Rose, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague, Goran Dragic and George Hill. We can argue all day about which one is better than the other but you can switch these guys on and off your team and the results would be fairly similar with each one of them.
That said he is an average point guard when you can name 13 players better at that position. I believe that's where he falls. Now when I'm just into selling off all our assets and rebuild we play a game like that. Rose played like the old Rose. Our problem when he is on the floor with Melo we have two subpar defenders. Maybe our rotations should change.
is that I can't really tell how good he's gonna be. He was very good last night. Still just 22. Such a strong guy in the pick and roll because he has great hands for a big guy and great touch around the basket. Highlights from last night - ( New Window )
neither is afraid of the big shot or tough shots in the 4th..
i know he had a couple of turnovers bit in the 4th rose ran the offense
Honest question: if the sixers offered Okafor for Willy would you even accept it?
Honest question: if the sixers offered Okafor for Willy would you even accept it?
no willy plays better defense and better rebounder..
celtics couldnt handle rose with the knicks so spread out

He's also more agile in the PnR and is a better shooter.

Yeah that's quite ridiculous if he hasn't yet, but it's possible he did after the first time he hurt it. Maybe not since it flared up again.

so yeah maybe you should watch the game rather than jjst watching the box

Wally and Hahn agreeing with you on the postgame.
Wally says if he were on the Knicks he would prefer playing on the second unit because Melo and Rose dominate the ball on the first unit.

Horrified is putting up 15, 7 and 5 with 2 blocks. He's playing good defense and is an extremely good NBA player.
