OUT- Rosas: Signed by the Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2016, Rosas was the starting kicker for Southern Oregon University during the 2013 season and 2014 National Championship campaigns. He converted a school-record 97.7 percent of his PAT's in his career while connecting on 25 of his 32 field goal attempts during his career. Rosas produced 123 touchbacks on 204 kickoffs and converted 116 PAT's in a row. While Rosas possesses a very strong leg, he will likely not beat out the veteran competition, but a good camp and preseason could force the Titans to make an unusual move to keep him on the practice squad.....though those odds are slim at best. They'd like on the 80, but I would love to see them bring in a young kicker with a cannon for a leg who they can develop, much like McManus before trading him to Denver.

With the benefit of hindsight the Giants should have held onto Chris Boswell. Hopefully they can find a young kicker who is the long term answer to the position.

The Giants seem to be fairly good at letting capable kickers go.
Chris Boswell looks pretty good at the moment, and the Giants let him go for nothing. Not sure how much they knew about Josh Brown's marital issues at the time, but they knew his age.
but 97.7% of his PATs is dreadful, imv..And it's further back in the pros
He had 204 kickoffs with 32 FGs, so if we assume he played 30 games and was the only kicker, that means he attempted ~142 PATs. If he converted 97.7% of them, then he missed 3 PATs in 142 attempts. That's not terrible.
from the belief, if not fact, that PATs were so automatic that back in the 80s or 90s the suggestions were to credit 7 points for a TD and do away with the XP altogether..Then of course, because so few were missed, they moved it back a few years ago..As to bad conditions, snaps, etc., somehow the PKs still managed to make the kick..
for the giants to sign a kicker that can actually attempt FGs more than 50 yards out especially for those long attempts at the end of a half or at the end of the game.

I knew nothing about Brown's issues, but I know at the time when I saw Boswell kick a couple of years ago, I wanted the Giants to keep him and move on from Brown. The Giants have a habit of letting young kickers go and watch them flourish elsewhere. I was never a fan of Brown, even when he went to the Pro Bowl last year.
Got to meet some really cool people and one in particular is a special teams genius involved with NFL in certain capacity. Leaving names and other details out on purpose.
Anyway he told me that Josh Brown was one of the best kickers in the league. Said his situation was a shame and everyone that knows the situation even a little bit knows that Brown is not at fault for anything that happened, that his ex is an absolute psycho. Giants knew that but they were forced into doing what they did.
Anyway beyond that he said that Gould and Wing were essentially trash. Just not good and that the Giants will definitely be looking to upgrade at kicker. So can take that for what it's worth but it was an interesting conversation to say the least.
Believe me I agree. I laughed inside when he said that but I'm not about to question this guy. He knows literally everything there is to know about punting. Down to little details and terminologies I didn't know existed.

In professional football. The kids on field goal teams in college are less polished. And his 97.7% was a school record.

I guess in only watching pro Football I got spoiled by near perfection..😎

The amount of coaching kickers get is about nil. Think he go LT a lot of professional level teaching at BFE U? Strong leg. Let's see if hey can teach him how to be better. Gould isn't the long term answer. Why not take a flyer

Dreadful? How can you say that? Do you know the reasons why he missed? Maybe there were bad snaps? Bad holds? Poor blocking? Shitty weather?

They also seem to be pretty good at finding guys who can make a high % of FGs.
Probably not true, but it sure as hell feels like it

Mad me laugh... still get sick seeing matt Bryant but all I can recall is his kick out bounds vs Dallas on Monday night

Olindo Mare was bad but Stover was the worst.
