Joe Williams would look real good in blue!

Looks like a late 1st round talent in a very talented RB draft, maybe that pushes him down to 2nd round?
Guess i don't know what I'm talking about
rasbutant : 1/19/2017 9:58 pm : link
NFL draft scout has him ranked as a 7-FA. Maybe we watched different games?

Joe Williams RB 28 Utah Sr 5-11 202 7-FA
5-11, 202

We already have that. It's called Paul Perkins.
If it's not a string of very big, very athletic offensive linemen
aka dbrny : 1/19/2017 10:36 pm : link
that can run block, a legitimately athletic tight end, or some seriously disruptive edger rushers....then I say meh
I like all those guys

Williams has gamechanging speed...not. very natural runner through traffic though. Upside is exciting but his story is weird. He retired (quit)...then came back and had a huge year. Where is this kid's head at?

Thompson is part of a big time secondary at Colorado. He is very good. Would be a solid mid round pick to back our guys up and develop him in to a starter in year 2 or 3. Would be a great special teamer.

Tupou is a very hard to move DT that made plays this year. Made plays outside the tackle box, rushed the passer....etc. Love the natural size he has.

Moreau, limited athlete but very physical. Shows good technique. He's a late round type.

Definitely not a 1st rounder.

Don't even think top 100 overall unless he runs a 4.4 or faster.
If Joe Williams is a first rounder

Then I have a good shot at getting drafted
Joe Williams from Draft Analyst -
TC : 1/19/2017 11:20 pm : link
"Mon: Williams had his moments today. He was probably the fastest perimeter ball carrier from either squad and ran hard all day. He flashed foot quickness and some ability to create. Overall it was a plus day for him.

Tues: Except for his blocking it was another solid day for Williams. He has a terrific burst and pops through the hole, moving with speed in every direction. Williams lacks much strength in his running and was consistently brought down by a single defender.

Wed: Probably the best back of the day. His burst through the hole is impressive and Williams plays at terrific speed. Showed little strength in his ball carrying.

Analysis: It was good to see Williams at Shrine practice and I loved his speed on the inside as well as his ability to turn the perimeter. His pass catching skills were average and his on-again, off-again retirement is something that raised red flags with the scouts in attendance."

Dieugot Joseph

There are so many good running back prospects,

and teams are only going to draft so many, that I'd have to believe Williams is going to be pushed down towards the middle or end of the draft.

I like them as well. Tupou is a hard to move relentless DT. Colorado had an excellent defense last season IIRC. He'd be a good replacement if Hankiins left. Problem with him is that he missed all of 2015 for rules violations. He was charged with some type of riot inciting, although the charges were dropped. There has been nothing since, and I'd be fine with him in the fourth, maybe even the third. The Giants frequently meet with players with "character issues." That's probably why they also met with Williams.

Moreau missed most of 2015 with the dreaded Lisfranc, but I don't think it's been a problem as well. Nice size and can hit well.

Thompson is just a solid all around player. He'd be a great addition in the mid rounds.

"Lacks much strength", "Does not run with strength"

The Giants don't need another soft running back
Another note from the event I was at
kelsto811 : 1/20/2017 11:27 am : link
Giants brought 5 scouts and 2 "testers". The testers run their psych tests I think. They by far did the most detailed interviews of all the scouts. Requested their own room while no one else did. These are guys who are 6th/7th/undrafted guys and they really do their homework.

On a related note, we had representatives from 30/32 teams and one team interviewed a kid early and told him to stay in his room if any other team asked to talk to him. Trying to keep him away as he obviously peaked their interest. Bet you guys can guess which team that was. I'm not gonna confirm if you're right but let's just say they have a track record of being shady :)
