Watch this hit by Chris Baker from the Skins and how Eli reacts to it. Watch it in slow motion. Eli would never show it but this looks like a hit reminiscent of the 2012 championship game. Notice Richburg looking back? link - ( New Window )
Isn't this the sack where Eli got up holding his right forearm?
JJ sucks enough on his own without being blamed for extra.
We should basically give our OL coach, Mike Solari, some real talent and the freedom to basically start whoever earns it. I don't care one bit about draft status.
That's one thing I really miss about the old days. If Parcells, Erhardt, Hoaglin and co. didn't think someone was ready to play they were not going to play. Two Left Tackles chosen in the 1st round had to sit; William Roberts was a late first round pick in 84' and Eric Moore was the 10th pick in the 88' draft ahead of guys like Michael Irvin and TE-Keith Jackson; Roberts finally won the LG spot and Moore was moved around and then rotated with Bob Kratch at RG.
Let Solari have some say in the scouting process and get some damn offensive linemen. If any of our anointed get a spot on the bench then so be it. At least there would be some competition to make them get their shit together.
and 16 against a bad Saints D in the two games prior. It's not like they were a juggernaut until week 3. It would be nice to be able to point to one thing and say "Ahhh ha! That's why it didn't work!", but I really don't think that's the case.
Easy and convenient explanation, but not likely the reason.
Better, and more likely explanation is simply that the run game struggled most of the year, Cruz was a far cry from the player he used to be, and the offensive line was mostly... well, offensive.
vs the niners. I really doubt that was cause for offensive woes and Eli's play rest of year. It was combo of bad ol play, receivers play, miscommunications, mistakes penalties, etc etc
Upgrade this ol..get a legit te, and a set RB. Also, a compliment wr. And the offense should start to click hopefully
All you need to do is watch him on this play where Eli takes the hit. He has an opportunity to clean the jock of either the noise or tackle and decides to hit absolutely no one. He sits in the middle and does nothing. How the f can you be a professional football player and do this shit?? He SUCKS!!!
Yes he has taken hard hits but that is one of the worst I have seen...

I suggest a closer look at the breakdown on the right side of the line. The Redskins are in a four-man front, not a 3-4 (technically, I think it's a 4-3 over, with Baker shaded as the nominal nose tackle). Jerry initially engages Baker, who was lined up over his inside shoulder. Richburg's first check is to his right, where he sees Jerry blocking Baker. Then he looks back to his left, where Pugh has the other DT blocked and there is nobody else to pick up. Unfortunately, just as Richburg turns his attention elsewhere, Jerry releases Baker and turns to help Hart. That's the fateful moment: Hart had already ridden Kerrigan deep, so he probably didn't need help and there was no way Jerry could get there anyway, unless Kerrigan made a secondary move to the inside. Meanwhile, he left Baker with a free run on Eli.
We don't know whether the blame rests mostly on Richburg or Jerry. Considering that Kerrigan is the marquee pass-rusher, and that Hart was making his first start at RT, it seems likely that Jerry was supposed to help Hart after the initial contact with Baker, and that Richburg blew the assignment by not picking up Baker. Richburg's reaction also suggests that he screwed up. But it's not as though he chose to give Baker an open shot at his QB. He saw Baker blocked, looked away for an instant, then turned back too late. For all we know, Jerry may have released Baker too early; it's even possible he wasn't supposed to release him at all.
The offense went downhill from there.
Maybe the problem, whatever it is, will be fixed in the offseason.

Worst OL in football. I don't care what the sack number says. Worst OL I saw all year, at least. No time to throw and no room to run.
Gotta fix it this offseason.

And I definitely think he was affected by it...

Thank you John McCay.
Thank you John McCay.
Wish there were more coaches with his press conference attitude.
