Any interest in TE Julius Thomas?

Anakim : 1/19/2017 11:59 pm
I haven't followed his career since he went to Jacksonville, but rumors are swirling that the Jaguars are going to cut him loose.

He's only 28 and I know he's dealt with some injury problems down there in Jacksonville, but would he be worth a gamble? For those who have seen him play with the Jaguars, is he the same TE that was such a weapon for Peyton Manning?
Yep

Same guy. Ex-basketball player who has been very injury prone.

Haha, I know it's the same guy. I phrased it poorly. I meant is he the same caliber of player that he was when he was with the Broncos.
Yeah he could be lethal in the pass game

But his blocking sucks and he can't stay healthy

I say pass
He was TOP Notch when Manning was

throwing him the ball! Then he went to Jax and between the injuries and the way he was under utilized it was as if he went from the penthouse to the Football graveyard.

If nothing else, I'd seriously take a hard look at him. maybe he's the kind of player who just needs a Manning in his life to be a stud TE!
Just looking at numbers. I would imagine he'd be a good contributor

His catch percentage correlates nearly 1:1 with passer completion percentage. His numbers drop off might be directly related to going from Manning to Bortles.

If he'd take 3 mill, he might be worth a shot. Our own Jared Cook type who would push Tye down the depth chart.
There were rumors/statements that Manning was all over him

To get the most out of him. Denver was supoosedly worried that if Manning retired and he got paid that JT wouldn't have that internal drive to be great. So far it looks like they were right.

He is hurt a lot, and the tackling dummy beats him in blocking.
Not only is he hurt a lot..
EricJ : 1/20/2017 9:14 am : link
but I have heard that the guy walks off of the field the moment he gets a scratch. Not a tough player and is going through the motions to receive a pay check but does not want to EARN it.

So... NO THANKS

in a guy that stopped trying after he got paid.
We need an Eastern bloc

Descendant or an Eye-talian at TE. Giant fans want a rough and tumble guy whose last name ends in a vowel, nothing else is acceptable
I think we should go with the draft at TE
SomeFan : 1/20/2017 2:26 pm : link
this year. By all accounts it is a loaded TE draft and we have a TE need. Things are coalescing nicely at the position.
yes

had interest in him before he went to the jags and still have interest now. If the Giants don't care that their TEs can't block worth shit then why not go get a guy like Thomas who can move.
