The day he showed up at the police station and was rushed to the hospital during a playoff bye week disoriented and disheveled due to a reaction from synthetic marijuana he sealed his fate in New England.
Arizona will tag him if they can't get a long term deal
So what I heard, which was he played rather well for the Cards was true?
I didn't follow Zona much this year (used to more when I lived in Tucson), so I can't speak to his performance although statistically he had double digit sacks. Just remember that AZ also traded their 2nd round pick in the 16 draft, so to give that up for a 1 year rental would be a bad use of resources.

Pats also received a draft pick (2nd rd?) in that deal. They didn't trade Jones because he was a bust, they dealt him due to his off the field issues and the large contract he was going to demand. At the time it was suggested that BB and the Pats wanted to keep Jamie Collins over Jones, though obviously things changed there as well.

All UFA's in 2017 except Butler who is a RFA.
So they figured one would be odd man out. they trade Jones Pats fans think problem solved.
then they trade Collins.
So now if they fail to retain Hightower and Butler long-term Pats fans get even more pissed.
Not sure how pissed they can justify being as they watch their team in the divisional playoff and most likely superbowl.
relatively speaking. of course winning cures all and Belichick has built up a ton of goodwill so his moves are less scrutinized than other GM's, but if the Pats don't win the SB, and don't re-sign those three and you'll hear grumblings from the fans.
he'd get swallowed alive here (socially speaking). I want nothing to do with that family bloodline especially at the price it would cost.
Bloodlines? What am I missing?

Ahh, ok
I'm just not a fan of the family from a "lets invest a mega deal into them" perspective. With the money Chandler will get, let him be someone else's problem. I'd rather spend it on an older JPP who's light years better against the run.
Jason Raanan, our ESPN reporter sounded pretty credible a few days ago:
“We don’t have as much money as we had last year to go shopping in free agency,” general manager Jerry Reese said recently, “but I think that we will be able to do things that we need to get done to help this football team.”
"With some expected salary trimming, the Giants should be close to $35 million under the salary cap by the time free agency begins. It’s not like last year, when the Giants were around $50 million under the cap, but it’s more than enough for Reese and Abrams to maneuver freely."
is more like Osi than Strahan.....a good pass rushing DE, that can be run on....with two seasons of double digit sacks, and his age, he will get a big contract....
Vax, not that simple..We WILL get grossly outbid by teams with tons more cap dollars..Do you want the Giants to use a ton of cap space at the expense of fixing the O with those valuable cap dollars? Let's say, on paper (because you never know from year to year), with JPP there our D is better than without him. What difference would it make if we can't fix the O?
How do you explain OV having .5 sacks in the five games where JPP was out vs. 5 sacks in the previous five games where JPP and OV were playing together?

We can use the franchise tag as leverage.
Double teamed? Other or additional reasons? The D, save for the last 20 minutes or so of the GB playoff, played very well without JPP. By saving the hard cap 17 million the FT would cost and putting it towards our O needs and if those needs are addressed and in place a year from now, we're probably in the NFCC one step removed from the SB, IMHO..That's assuming the D continues to do well in JPP's absence which I believe we will..Or, at the very least, good enough as a solid complement to the O
Not sure. I just heard that he played pretty well for the Cards
I think the Cardinals love him there though so they'll make a big push to resign him.
So what I heard, which was he played rather well for the Cards was true?
If the Giants don't pay JPP, they're not going to turn around and pay more $$ to Jones.

Some other options to look at:
Jabaal Sheard / NE
Andre Branch / MIA
Devin Taylor / DET
William Gholston / TB
Alex Okafor / ARI
Okafor has only played in a 3-4 at OLB but he is 6'4", 260 lbs. I think he could make a transition.
Taylor is coming off 11.5 sacks the past two years and started every game for the Lions this season. Young guy with good size.

It's a POSSIBLE option if not tagged, not a necessary wish on my part per se..Just curious what the brethren thought..

Not sure how pissed they can justify being as they watch their team in the divisional playoff and most likely superbowl.

Doesn't matter. They'll never get over those two devastating SB losses to Eli and Co..😜
Bloodlines? What am I missing?

Or you pass on both and bring your cap resources back into balance.
