up the SEC, including Alabama (464 yards and 5 TDs against them) and is only 24 years old. He'll probably be available for close to the league minimum. If he's in shape and clean someone will get him into camp.
But he's also an alcoholic that needed to dry out.
I think he would be a no-risk option for a team to bring him to camp as the 3rd or 4th QB on an incentive-laden deal. If he makes it through camp, sits for a year and proves he can keep his nose clean, why not?
We should all be hoping that he gets out of a terrible
situation, whether or not he makes a career in football.
Every decent human being should want the best for all who want a better life.

Low risk - and that still begs the question of whether or not he might pose a threat to the team because of the distraction he'll bring with him.
I don't wish harm on the guy - I hope he straightens himself out and has a long and healthy life. But he's been off the rails for some time now, has deliberately (from the interviews I've read) kept good influences at arm's length and surrounded himself with shitheads. Our wishes don't mean jack shit, if he can't get himself straight it's not going to end well for him.

While I think people enjoy a train wreck just a little too much, nobody wants to wake up one morning and see "Johnny Manziel dead at 28." He may never play another down in the NFL but you're right, the antics long since stopped being entertaining, let's hope he can pull it together so he doesn't end up a tragedy.
for letting his personal demons get out of control but the notion that he didnt flash is simply not true.
Manziel put up some rather impressive performances against some good competition (ex. 370 yards passing against the Steelers) as a 22 year old, while playing for the worst franchise in sports.
If you're just evaluating the player and compare the tape of someone like the 25 year old Bryce Petty against the 22 year old Manziel (who will still be younger than Petty next year) then I think most player personnel execs would comfortably lean towards Manziel.
Now, if anyone wants to take a chance on him..totally different story.
whether its actually his fault or not, there's just too much media distraction here for a project / backup Qb.
I also dont think he's gone far enough, yet, to prove he won't fall off the wagon again (if he's even on it right now).
I think he will have to prove himself in the CFL for a year or two... but then again teams keep giving Ryan Mallett a shot too so who knows.
Good point. Talent-wise he deserves a shot (as did Tebow) but it's just not worth the circus for a guy who, even if all goes well, is still likely just a backup player or a clipboard holder.

See, he's doomed to failure that way. If he's going to get a shot somewhere quickly, it's going to be a place so desperate for a QB that he's unlikely to succeed, possibly putting the same series of events in motion all over again.
He'd be better off taking the CFL route, solidifying his reputation, and coming back to a situation that gives him a shot at success.
The guy looked 170 pounds sopping wet the last pictures I saw. Unless he is so fast 200 pound "linebackers" and 185 pound DBs can't catch him he would still get broken in half when he tries to just show up and coast through a game.
The guy is poision and his next shot needs to be arena ball if he is serious about actually coming back.
He did have a team believe in him but he threw it away. Duh.
... And proves everyone wrong by making the most of it. A veteran, professional QB to follow everyday and learn from is what Johnny needed from day 1...
I don't feel bad for Manziel at all.. he made his bed.
We should all be hoping that he gets out of a terrible
situation, whether or not he makes a career in football.
Every decent human being should want the best for all who want a better life.

Yep ... let's feel sorry for some talented rich kid who threw away more money in a year than any of us will make in our lives ... and lobby for someone to give him millions more ... Yep I hope he gets his life together sure ... gets a 7-3 job with his name on the front of his shirt ... and needs that paycheck to pay his bills ... but for him to comeback ... call me petty but he can go fuck himself ...
if you can't make it in Cleveland doubt u can make it anywhere
Remember the scrap heap Kerry Collins was on? Labelled a Racist, a Drunk. etc. Somebody's always willing to take a chance. Too bad for Manziel he doesn't have Collins' arm. And how many chances did Tebow get?
We should all be hoping that he gets out of a terrible

You are petty. 22-24 year olds are a demographic known for their maturity and strong decision-making, as we all know, so we shouldn't feel a modicum of sympathy for a kid who fucked up money and fame at an early age?
So he could offer himself on a 1 year vet min deal to prove himself. he would get a team taking a shot for that price
I think it's a myth that Manziel comes from money, and I wouldn't be surprised if he has tapped out his NFL money. I think his parents worked middle class jobs. They aren't the Ewings.
Someone is going to have the kid on a vet minimum deal.
I absolutely invite him to mini camp for a tryout.
Many of you forget Kerry Collins, walking out of the police station with the cigar. Ernie rolled the dice when we had Kent Graham. With an all-time great in Eli it's a no Brainer. The kid comes in with no pressure to play and if he is even 2 minutes late to a meeting or even posts 1 thing on social media you cut him with 0 problem.
Sometimes people do change. Cris Carter became a hall of famer.
No effin O. Besides, I don't want a midget QBing my squad.
Manziel is the same height as Fran Tarkenton and Drew Brees. Those other "midgets" are both in the top 10 for all-time passing yardage. And in 17 of his 18 seasons Tark played 14 game schedules, meaning, he had 34 fewer games in those years (over two full seasons) than modern day QBs.
Manziel's height doesn't bother me. I'd love for the Giants to sign him, because it would be low risk and high reward. But given the Josh Brown embarrassment and the fact that Manziel had a physical altercation with his girlfriend, I don't think the Giants would do it.
joking about Las Vegas.
Now on a serious note.Would it hurt to bring him in for a work, they are going to be in the market for a backup, and they could still draft or sign someone else.Competition is a good thing and he obviously he would have to toe the line.
I am not saying they should or would do this, but if he truly cleaned up his act,he always did have talent and as a backup he would have to prove himself with little risk for the team, and it could be a good environment for him if he was committed to changing his ways.
Follow tebow. Tebow had just as much talent a much better build for football and was a worker and stand up guy from all accounts. Tebow couldn't find work. Manziel literally has one redeeming quality: he is very athletic. At this point he has to start from the absolute bottom. This guy at this point probably couldn't carry Ryan Perrilloux's jock strap. Even if manziel was eligible a team wouldn't put him on their practice squad.
Arena ball is calling - he will put some asses in seats there.
@JManziel2
No lie.. I was a douche in 2016 I'm just trying to be a good PERSON again#LostInTheSauce
And now with his obvious issues, he's done.

He was partying in Florida with OBJ and co. last week. I don't think he's changing his ways.
I'd say CFL too. He's done

Particularly if it's Montreal, Ottawa or Saskatchewan.
You left occupation in your profile blank. I assume it's undertaker.

maybe the Mets can sign him to a minor league deal, maybe bring him in for a few spring training games.

PS.....Did he own the boat, OBj & Co. were on?
Kerry Collins kicked the alcohol and partying after hitting rock bottom and salvaged a decent football career.
Not advocating he come here. But I hope he gets a shot and makes the most of it.
