Going to Tampa/St.Pete/Clearwater area next month for the 1st time. Just my wife and I. Looking for suggestions for places to go/things to do. Not into big, crowded attractions like Busch Gardens/amusement parks. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.
The Aquarium in Tampa is OK, but the Channelside Riverwalk nearby is neat. Any of the beaches from Ft DeSoto Park in south Pinellas County up to Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin are great. The Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs are fun (but a little touristy) and has tremendous Greek food. If it's late in Feb the spring training camps in Tampa (Yanks), Clearwater (Phillies), and Dunedin (Blue Jays) would be fun. Dunedin and Safety Harbor have neat down-towns with great food and boutiques. Ybor City has some great craft breweries and cigar shops; Dunedin has some craft breweries, too.
The season opening Formula One Grand Prix event is in early March and I imagine they will have some events in Feb that might be worthwhile.
I have always enjoyed Columbia restaurant in Ybor city.
Get the 1905 salad to start.
Also Bern Steakhouse (especially if you enjoy winw) even if only for dessert.
The Don Cesar has a great dessert.
It is big white chocolate egg.
They pour hot caramel over it and it melts revealing a now caramel covered cake.

If you go to Columbia, get the bread pudding for dessert. Even if your first instinct is "bread pudding, uh no," get it anyway. That was my reaction to the recommendation and I took a flyer and glad I did.
Your wife would love St. Armands circle in Sarasota, about a 40 minute drive. Go to nearby Sierra Key Oyster Bar for a fun, unpretentious bar atmosphere with fresh seafood and cold beer. If you like craft brews, I can give you a list of breweries to visit that aren't so mobbed like Cigar City Brewery is all the time. Some wonderful breweries.
If you like cigars, I think the best shop in Ybor City is King Corona. Great outdoor smoking patio in front to enjoy a cigar, beer, and watch the freak parade that is Ybor City. Let me know the dates you will be here. You might be around for the Gasparilla Sant 'Yago Knight Parade on Feb 11th. I want to go this year, supposedly like Mardi Gras (boobs, lol). If anyone has been to that one, let us know. But the Day parade on the 28th of Jan is a big party and drinkfest. You should try to book a nice sunset cruise. I'm sure your wife would love that. Get out on the water. Dolphin viewing is very commonplace. A note about Berns, it's not cheap. You will have an amazing dining experience and they have one of the largest wine collections in the world in their cellar, but be prepared to drop at minimum $100 per person, and that won't include wine or dessert. For breakfast/lunch in Clearwater, try Frenchies on the beach. You'll have a great time.
Where are you staying? Lots of cool stuff to do some already noted. I lived there for 10 years so I can give you my thoughts once I know where are staying. Also, roughly how old are you guy and what general things do you like?
Fixing the typo... It's Ybor City.

Yes...the 1905 salad is amazing.
