Per multiple reports on twitter. Apparently ex top prospect Andy Marte has also died in a car accident but unclear if it's the same

awful for anyone passing in an auto accident, but definitely hits home hard on a close knit team of small numbers, prayers to his family

Same day, separate sole death accidents of #MLB players @YordanoVentura & Andy Marte, similar circumstance; both said to be under influence.

Taveras and Ventura....from Wikipedia about the death of former Cardinals prospect and Dominican baseball player Oscar Tevars and his girlfriend who died in a car accident (also while allegedly intoxicated) during the World Series between KC and STL:

Quote:
.....Observances on behalf of Arvelos and Taveras were held for Game 6 of the World Series, including a moment of silence before the first pitch. Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Yordano Ventura wrote "R.I.P. O.T #18" on his hat along with other tributes on his cleats and glove. His hat was turned in for display at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. On October 28, the Cardinals left the right field lights on at Busch Stadium[46] and released a Twitter photo of the scene
the next day.[47]

Crazy
Took that tribute a little too seriously.

It sounds like it was a single car crash, so hopefully he didn't hurt anyone else.
