The Washington Redskins stayed in-house to hire their new defensive coordinator.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Sunday that the Redskins will promote outside linebackers coach Greg Manusky to defensive coordinator, per sources informed of the team's decision.

This will be his fourth stint as a DC.

Manusky joined the Redskins in 2016 after four seasons as the Indianapolis Colts' DC. The 50 year old began his coaching career in Washington (as linebackerS coach) in 2001. He then spent stints as a defensive coordinator in San Francisco (2007-2010) and San Diego (2011) before heading to Indy.

I guess hoping for Rob Ryan was too much to ask for.

25 years of hopelessness has been pretty great thus far so I shouldn't get too greedy. They have enough other issues that could blow up in their faces like a gag gift this offseason.

I knew it was a long shot but I was hoping that too. Maybe we will get lucky and they will make Rob Ryan a position coach.
Should have seen this one coming

He was the DC when the racistwords GM was in SF too. Steeped in 3-4 and McCloughan is trying to make the Skins into the image of that 49er bunch, big big big.

Pretty meh hire. But with Gruden going into a a potentially lame duck year - hard for them to reel in someone big,

Cousins is Andy Dalton at best. Paying that guy 20 to 25 million will have the same effect cap wise.

It could certainly hinder their chances, but look at the QBs on the four teams this weekend: Brady, Rothlisberger, Ryan, Rodgers. You can win games without a franchise QB, but you're not winning championships without one. Not saying Cousins is on the same level as those four, but he is good enough to be a franchise quarterback.
