Above average OL. Brady and Ryan have ALL day back there in the pocket. Let's hope Jerry Reese fixes the OL this offseason, because the Giants have the defense to compete with anyone.
You cannot highlight the fact the Patriots OL plays well and then say the Giants need to invest more premium resources in the OL.
Yes, it's a priority but using another 1st on the OL is what they call throwing good money after bad. The Giants have not been successful or as successful as they need to be to justify using a 1st on an OL.
necessarily.
The Falcons only have one of their own draft picks on their OL.
with a proven solution and the options simply are limited this year.
if the Giants use another 1st on a OL their draft pick investment would be (assuming Flowers flips over to RT):
LT (1st)
LG (Pugh 1st)
C (Richburg (2nd)
RG (TBD)
RT (Flowers 1st)
I'm going to assume no team in the NFL has more premium draft pick investment in the OL. Not even Dallas.
all early round reaches because Jerry panicked...
Either way, reaches, coaching, whatever, people who say this sentence: "the Giants have to draft X at 23..." and X is a position (OL or otherwise) to quote Mel Kiper about the Jets "don't get what the NFL draft is all about"
Then you go from there.. we can't let the quality FA OL sign elsewhere again and be left with the John Jerrys of the world. No fucking way.
And drafting another OL high would be stupid for the reasons others mentioned. Stick to drafting what we're good at drafting: DE, WR, CB.. throw in a RB and TE this year (hope for a luck in breaking our poor TE drafting streak).
He gets it right every few years. Flowers is worst 1st round pick the Giants have since I can remember, much worse than Ron Dayne, but he has the chance to be better than Cedric Jones, and William Joseph, if he is moved to Guard. I dont see him being any better at RT than he was at LT. He has no feet. Teams that dont already play their best pass rusher on the offense's right side, will, if they see Flowers over there. Pugh is not a stud, but he is a versatile lineman who would be a lot better than Flowers at LT IMO. Can't be mad if Reese takes a T at 23 if it makes sense. What if they spend a lot on a T in FA, then draft a T in the first round? Cuz i'm telling you, Flowers is no Tackle, left or right. He would be like Newhouse part II with a little more sand in his pants. If the talent is there, can't say dont do it because of previous bad picks.
spread out the defense with 4 and 5 wide a lot. If a blitz comes in it's easier to hit an open receiver. Even the TE line up in the slots most of the time.

On their Oline , LT, C, and RG.
I know and if the Giants take an OL with a 1st they will too, plus a 2nd and the 5th player would be a TBD, which is more premium draft pick investment than Dallas unless for some reason Dallas goes OL this draft in the 1st or 2nd which is unlikely IMO.
And Draft TE and WR and CBs
Thuney (3rd)
Andrews (UDFA)
Mason (4th)
Cannon (5th)
