It could. Gets injured in camp (again) and we have to give him an injury settlement. Small dollars when compared to what the cap is but not insignificant to the probable upside - backup safety/corner.
They can do their due diligence but if he comes back to play in this league, I can't blame the Giants for not resigning him.
It is very unfortunate what happened to him. He surprised quite a bit early on with the Giants. After missing his entire rookie season he was switched to safety and he performed so well that he was actually getting first team reps at FS. He played well in the preseason before suffering the injury that would knock him out for the year.
