Ben Roethlisberger was critical of Steelers’ young players after loss to Patriots “I don’t know if that’s the one thing, but you have to score when they’re down there,” Roethlisberger said, via the Post-Gazette. “There were missed opportunities — whether we didn’t execute well enough, whether plays weren’t made by me or other guys. At times it felt like maybe it was too big for some of the young guys.” “Hopefully, this is a learning game for guys to understand this isn’t promised to anybody. Tomorrow isn’t promised. Just to make the playoffs isn’t enough,” he said. “A lot of guys have been in the league for a long time and haven’t been to any of these. I hope they understand the importance and relish the opportunity if it comes again.” |
LOL! Good one!
13-7
28 TD (total) - 23 INT
4700 yards (which would equate to 3700 yards in a full season)
In his last 9 playoff games
3-4
8 TD - 9 INT
They had no chance yesterday and he played like garbage. If Eli had this performance he would blame no one but himself.
I stand by the notion that he would be eaten alive in NYC and likely is run out of town with everything he's pulled (rape allegations, milking injuries, throwing teammates under the bus).

I have always been surprised by the number of people who never bought the OPINION that Ben would never have lasted in NY..

Makes you appreciate Cutler more. He totally knows he's an asshole.

Now you've gone too far!
No Bell? No chance.

Agreed.
Kind of reminds me to a degree of Tyson and Kobe..Both raped, one went to prison because he was universally unliked. the other went on with his life..Both pieces of shit, but one still loved and regaled
Perception is that Kobe is a good guy and Tyson is a scumbag, when the truth is they both are
He wouldn't have had that instant success and he'd have much the same track record of missing the playoffs that Eli has had here though. With the benefit of hindsight, the Steelers were obviously the best destination for a QB land out of the three main choices in 2004.
I've read on here that only we do that
His brother was the same way. Russell Wilson is also in that group and while he hasn't had the success of the other 3, I think Luck is probably in that group too.
Not until he saw reporters and cameras coming.

doesn't whine to officials or teammates or throw his teammates under the bus. All the rest do at least 1 of the other 3. Eli takes his lumps like a man.

Peyton threw his entire OL under the bus after a particularly frustrating loss. I forget which year that was...
It's subtle, but he's assigning blame to the inexperience of the younger players.
While it may be a big reason why they lost, it's not really the QBs place to be saying it during the press conference right after the loss, if at all.
I went to Miami Oh as well...and the grapevine is littered with stories of his douchbaggery.
The Pittsburgh fans that I know....are tolerant because he is a good QB. But he is a bad human being.

Yes. I though Giants#1 meant that Peyton was in the whiners camp, which he definitely was (bashing the OL, the "idiot kicker", whining with Polian about the refs after they lost to the Pats) Archie Manning once told Francesa that he didn't think Peyton could play in NY, that he let things bother him, but Eli always just let stuff slide off his back.

that people claim that Eli was lucky to win two superbowls and that the defense single handedly won both games. There is never any talk about Roethlisbergers performance in both superbowl victories especially his first one where he had the worst performance of any winning QB in SB history. There seems to be more hatred towards Eli for what he did on draft day than there is for Roethisberger and all his off the field antics.

This is fucking stupid. Let's not act like either of these two had a massive target on their backs.
If this is a just a pile on than so be it...

Forgot about that. I think he threw his kicker under the bus too.
But, having said that, I don't really think what he said was so bad. Plus, you have to figure Ben has a pretty good sense of where his guys are in terms of the game and being prepared or being overwhelmed.
If I were a Pittsburgh fan I'd be more worried about the defense getting carved up in zone coverage. The book on the Pats is very complicated: jam the receivers and hit Brady. Sure, that's not always easy to do, but who thought it was a good idea to play zone coverage yesterday?

Actually in that case, the "idiot kicker" (Vanderjagt) started the whole thing. Not unlike Jay Feely, there have been some kickers and punters (Vikings) in the league that just talked way too much.
Doesn't make him any less of a dick
