NFT: Video Games - FF15

I had a thread on this when it was released to see what everyone thought and I finally got a chance to start it this past week.

As most know I've been down on this franchise for about a decade and didn't like what I was hearing leading up to launch.

I am about 12 hours in, so a big enough sample size to give some feedback and I'll start by saying I was definitely wrong. It isn't now and probably won't be my favorite entry of the series (I'll leave that to 6, 7 and 9) but its in that group after those three, probably 15 and 10.

I'm pretty blown away by the battle mechanics and tactics. It takes what I liked about Xenoblade Chronicles and beefed it up without going overboard. The biggest surprise to me are the side missions. They were tiresome in Xenoblade Chronicles (my only real complain of that game) but they are pretty rewarding in FF15.

The only real negative that stands out is day/night limitations which keeps you from exploring (the purpose of an open world game), the forced character interactions, and the voice acting.

So far so far so good though, its a solid 8.0 with room to move up. I know a few on here have played is, curious your thoughts.
I played about 35 hours...

will eventually it but have been busy and distracted lately.

I agree with most of what you said. Generally positive thoughts. The open world is fun to explore and feels different than the heavily medeival style worlds of Witcher 3 and DA:I. The day/night cycle is annoying, especially at the beginning of the game, but when you get stronger it'll matter less and you'll be able to manipulate it a little better.

The battle mechanics are fun and so is the fact that there's so many little thing to upgrade and get rewards for. Music is great too and I didn't mind the voice acting (with the exception of Prompto who just annoys the fuck out of me).

They plot hasn't really come together yet from where I'm at and the reviews seem to our echo the idea that the game had a ton of things to like but the plot just wasn't a strong point.
agreed on the plot

I kinda of don't care about it which is nice because I know it isn't very good. The game is doing a good job of making me forget about it, haha.
I'd been holding off...

...on a new console for this and was still up in the air. I bought the original FF for NES the week it came out after seeing it in a Nintendo Power preview and thinking it was going to be a huge hit and have owned every main console title since (no interest in the online versions).

I may take the plunge.
Picking up resident evil 7 today

reviews are great. I'm very tempted to pick up the VR for it.
