the red lettering. As far as I can tell, no Star Wars movie title has had that red outline in the logo.
Here is the official announcement:
They've hinted at it being darker and more serious which it shares with Empire but that the story arc is definitely different. The red letters are definitely on purpose.
or it's a very Luke-centric story explaining the Jedi's fall (again) along with the rise of Kylo. Either way I think Rey ultimately is the "Last Jedi" and we will find out who her parents are a la Vader-Skywalker in Empire.
and that it's so simple that nobody can really see it.
Daisy Ridley said earlier this year that she thought throughout making The Force Awakens that it was "obvious" who Rey's parents were, but that after she saw it with friends she was surprised that everybody seemed to be confused about who they were.
I think the movie is going to focus a lot on the backstory of how Kylo went to the dark side and why Luke went into exile. I think its literally going to be about "The Last Jedi" and why there isn't a new jedi order.
everyone stops complaining about how similar The Force Awakens was to A New Hope. Yeah. It was similar. I get it. Not a complete and total remake but it was similar.
That being said... it had some really marked differences that were very cool to the story.

Which is why I actually think she is Obi Wan's daughter. Everything from the similar outfits, sneaking around StarKiller/Death Star scenes, the use of the Jedi Mind Trick, only two good characters with British accents and many more hints.

Not necessarily. Jedi is both singular and plural. It could be referring to Luke. It could be referring to Rey. It could be referring to both. It could be referring to more Jedi we are not yet aware of.

What do you mean nobody can really see it? An actress was surprised that her dopey actor friends couldn't noodle through it? Every old nerd like me who grew up with Star Wars can see what they intended.

Well, a lot of people out there don't think it's Luke, so....

She is not old enough to be Oni Wan's daughter. This is 30 years after Return of the Jedi, which was what, 5 years or so after Obi Wan died. she's not 35+ years old. If she is a Kenobi, it would have to be his granddaughter.
Good questions. Wonder if that was actually a grave stone where Luke was standing at the end of FA?
Hammill recently responded to this query with something along the lines of, "It just looked like a rock to me." But, he could also have been acting coy.
There are rumors of a Ewan McGregor Obi Wan franchise, which could fill in the blanks of those twenty years between 3 and 4, his love interests, etc.
This would be weak. Luke and Kenobi's daughter would be too easy. It would also be disappointing. I know they are ignoring the EU. But, if you are going to haqve Luke fall in love, Mara Jade would still make a much more interesting storyline than anything else.
And a lot of people do think it's Luke, I suppose it depends on perspective and what is meant by "a lot". Here's a far out idea, maybe she's a clone from Vader's DNA. After he was all toasted up, maybe Palpatine sent some genetic junk to Camino to make a copy just in case.
As an aside, Luke is supposed to be a real badass Jedi
in this film. Luke is said to be the most powerful Jedi ever and the rumors are that Luke and Rey battle the Knights of Ren at the outset of the next movie. Rey duels Kylo, while Luke takes on essentially the rest of them and he has some rather cool and powerful means of doing so.
that would be a big mistake IMO. As for Rey I really think that she is Luke's daughter. Luke, Anakin, and Rey all grew up on a dangerous desert planet. The lightsaber that once belonged to Anakin and Luke called out to her. She is also a great pilot like Luke and Vader.

That has been speculated as a possibility. Also, a clone of Palpatine...or was that a theory for Snoke?
that Rey might just Kylo's sister, separated / protected / memory wiped by Luke when Kylo went after the academy? Although I guess her identity should / would have become obvious to Kylo and Snoke once she resurfaced with extraordinary latent Jedi talents.

And you'd think Leia and/or Han would have acknowledged it.
there was a lot to like about TFA starting with the production and acting. Sure the story was familiar but that's the hand that's dealt when you are tasked with revamping a story 40 years later having to capture your existing fanbase as well as new. Its a continuation of the same story, its going to be pretty similar.
Over the weekend and loved it. Looking forward to this next movie. Count me as one who believes Rey is Luke's daughter though can't imagine who her mother is.
RE: some people just won't be satisified with Star Wars

I gave them a pass on the plot of TFA for this reason. It was a safe play but probably the right one after Episodes I-III. But VIII and IX need to get back to the kick-ass story telling in addition to the high production value.
and Luke hid her on Jakku instead of trying to train her after he failed at training Kylo. Rey's fighting style even mirrors Palpatine's in the films. She's got some dark side anger and rage in her. Creates an interesting parallel with the OT and would be a cool reveal, if true.
and he left her and went into isolation to protect her location from her mother who is snokes daughter obsessed with progressing Vader's bloodline and the one who turned ben solo to the darkside.

Why would you want to know this?
I saw the last two movies knowing nothing going in and it was a real treat.
Either way, super stoked.
Can we hope for it during the Super Bowl?
Here is the official announcement:
Return of the Jedi?
Oh wait, that has already been used.

Luke = Obi-Wan
etc
etc
right down the list

Good points. Could be.

In the Clone Wars/Rebels storyline, Obi Wan fell in love with Duchess Satine. He even said he would have left the Jedi Order for her.

Ah yeah, as said below, grandfather would make more sense.

Uh don't know what movie you watched, but they got TFA right, and Rogue One..
Just joking about the Jar Jar fan theory.
